IC: Anyone want to play Hunter? (OWOD)

Got some of the OWOD (Old world of darkness) books a while ago, and have been itching to run a Hunter the Reckoning campaign. Most of the planning has already been done, and I just recently stumbled upon this website, so I figured I might see if there's any interest in playing. It would take place in a very small town in the mountains in Colorado, and it would be mainly suspense and investigation, likely with a little horror (who would have guessed?). Again, I'm new to rpol, so you might have to bear with me a little on that, but I am fairly familiar with play by post and not new to WOD. I have read the FAQ's however and done a tad of lurking so I'm fairly confident I could run adequately on RPoL. Anyways, if you have any interest in the setting but are new I would be willing to help players create their characters and get acquainted with White Wolf if need be. Leave a post if this sounds like something that would be interesting to you, and if I get enough interest I'll probably run it.

i adore owod hunter, would love to play. dig the setting, i've lived around there, some of thsoe small town communities are really entertaining (hippy communes and such) and some of them are downright terrifying (kid in burlap sack sitting on a wooden stoop creepy).

Yeah, it can definitely get pretty creepy in little run-down towns, I thought it would make a pretty great setting for the OWOD tone. Anyways, sounds great, if a couple more people call dibs I'll make an official game set up an ad and we can go from there.

It's a little bit different from traditional OWOD; You're meant to create a totally normal person, rather than the action hero type, and then roleplay out their discovery of the baddies and eventually they are given powers to fight back from some unknown supernatural being. Certainly a lot of opportunities for RP though.

Yeah, hopefully for this game I won't have to require everyone to have 10 back up characters. :)

Re: IC: Anyone want to play Hunter? (OWOD)

So hunters had powers in OWOD? I'm only familiar with NWOD hunter, where your main weapon is the special combat maneuvers. I might be interested.

Re: IC: Anyone want to play Hunter? (OWOD)

yeah, there's a certain degree of "are we becoming the things that we're fighting" from their supernatural growth. that's one of the reasons it starts from the premise of playing average joes.

It's pretty different from the new version of hunter, it kind of takes focus on each persons reaction to their situation as a class, which can make for kind of cool roleplaying. Powers are dependent on personality and reaction to the baddies, so it gives you an opportunity to flesh out your character from the start.

I've got to admit, it sounds really cool. I'd be in if a game went up.

Sounds great, I think that's plenty of interest to get it off the ground. Pretty busy right now, but I'll get the thing officially started up either later tonight or early tomorrow, and add in the concrete yeses.

If you have access to the books, it shouldn't be difficult to create a hunter character anyway. I have nothing against helping if you need it, however, and will probably post the basic character creation rules on the game's board when it goes up.

Re: IC: Anyone want to play Hunter? (OWOD)

In case you guys didn't get the link, as I'm not sure I understand how rMail works: link to another game

Send me a character concept via RTJ and I'll guarantee you a spot. (if you originally said yes in the IC).
P.S. I can't promise the concept won't have to be changed a little bit for the continuity, but I'm sure we can keep most of what you come up with as long as it's of the average joe sort.
