Shadowrun 4e set in Neo-Tokyo

I have been reading a lot on Shadowrun, and decided I would like to try to run a game on rpol.  I don't have much experience with the system, but have decades of experience with other rpgs.  I like the idea of a game set in Tokyo, focusing on the urban sprawl and the corporate conflicts.  Wanted to see how much interest there would be in a game like this.

In reply to gladiusdei (msg # 1):

I would LOVE this! I have been dying to play Shadowrun 4 Ed. on here, seems like everyone else is interested in either 3 Ed. or 5 Ed though.

Count me in! Honestly I wouldn't care if it was solo, a small group, or even a large one. I haven't gotten to play Shadowrun in months n would love to get a game going.

When you're ready to start (or at least know what/when you're doing it), rmail me . I've got a bunch of different character concepts I'd like to play.

Re: Shadowrun 4e set in Neo-Tokyo

How open on books would this be? (Rigger 4?)

Pretty darn interested either way. Ditto ^^.

Re: Shadowrun 4e set in Neo-Tokyo

I think I have most of the books, and would be fairly open to their use.  But as a relative newcomer to the system, I'd reserve the right to nix something if it develops into a disruption for the game.

*Shrugs* Works for me. GM always has last say in anything. I've got (I think) all of the books as well.

Re: Shadowrun 4e set in Neo-Tokyo

Naturally. When you said urban sprawl, I guessed that would mean more 'street' runners than 'coated in military spec gear' runners.

Only other question I'd have is whether you're using Corporate Enclaves. It makes Neo-Tokyo (& Japan at large) somewhat more melee orientated, among other things. I'm open to talking about any / all of that, or not.

Re: Shadowrun 4e set in Neo-Tokyo

that's the book I'm using for reference for the city in general, but I won't be using the adventures/enemies provided.  I'll make up my own.

I forgot to say, if I ran a game, it would be focused more on story, intrigue, and immersing in the setting, and less on hardcore number crunching combat and impossible run planning.

Re: Shadowrun 4e set in Neo-Tokyo

I have fond memories of Shadowrun.   I am up for almost anything.

I imagine you will get more interest than you bargained for.  Last application of Shadowrun I applied for had 19 interested players.

Re: Shadowrun 4e set in Neo-Tokyo

Looks like we got enough interest for a group already!

So, next question is, when you planning to start running a game?

well, I'm going to start working on it in the next couple of days, and can probably open it up to rtjs toward the latter part of next week.

Sweet! Mind posting in this thread when you're ready? And putting in a link (if you're allowed), or some other way to get to the game?

Re: Shadowrun 4e set in Neo-Tokyo

Well I did not see this when I was asking for an SR4 game lol. I would be interested as well, would metahumans expect allot of prejudice in this city?

Re: Shadowrun 4e set in Neo-Tokyo

Many official/government/corporate agencies will be more, or at least more open, about their prejudices in Neotokyo than a runner would normally find in,say, Seattle.  But it won't be so strong that being a metahuman will be a real distinct disadvantage (more than it normally can be).

Re: Shadowrun 4e set in Neo-Tokyo

I too would be interest in a game in Neo-Tokyo. I tried running one myself, but it fell apart as I struggled as a GM.

Nice to see a SR game that wants to be outside of Seattle :)

Re: Shadowrun 4e set in Neo-Tokyo

The bare bones of the game are up now.  I will look over rtj's for probably about a week before deciding exactly who and how many to accept.

link to another game

oops, link fixed.
