Interest check: WFRP?

I'm very tempted to run a Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay game and I wanted to check if there was enough interest. The rules and setting would be 2nd edition, unless there is massive demand for 1st edition instead (I don't have the rules for 3rd edition so that won't happen. ;)

I'm thinking a campaign set in Ostland just after the Storm of Chaos. While there will be quite a lot of combat it won't be a combat game exactly and I would prefer it if characters can function in society.

Fair warning this will be the first time ever I've GM'd a WFRP game, so I'll appreciate suggestiions and advice!

Re: Interest check: WFRP?

I think if you'd let players roll their careers randomly then the fates decide if we are to be combat monkey's or not. I would be interested if we went that route and then had us "thirsting for adventure" and thus onto learning our next more adventurous career. Though I'm sure some sort of politicking could work too, if thats where you would want to lead. Combat in WFRP should be deadly and short, it would just fit the world I think.

Re: Interest check: WFRP?

That's a good point. I certainly intend random generation (roll twice choose one) and will try and adjust things depending on where the players want to go. While I do have a setting in mind I'm willing to consider other options.

Re: Interest check: WFRP?

Well I like Ostland, there's enough adventure in one kingdom that we need an empire trotting game I think. But atleast you know I'm one obsessive, err interested haha, player that will more than likely post more than thrice a day if given the chance.

Re: Interest check: WFRP?

I would be interested in playing a 2nd edition Warhammer game. One question, given the huge disparity of power between elves and dwarves vs. humans and halflings, will there be social problems that arise from playing an elf or dwarf?

I used to run WFRP and in the end my group decided no elves and dwarves had serious social problems. Alternatively we sometimes ran games where it was expected that you would play an elf or dwarf.

Re: Interest check: WFRP?

That's a good question. Both are allowed, though I'd prefer to have only one at any one time; it's possible the PCs may be placed in/gain positions of social power and authority and an Elf in particular will have trouble there.

I'm hoping on four PCs with at least half being human (though not neccessarily Imperials.)

Re: Interest check: WFRP?

I'd be interested in playing.

Honestly, there is nothing wrong with limiting the races allowed.  It will very likely end up pushing people into making RP choices they don't usually use.

Re: Interest check: WFRP?

Okay, looks like that's enough interest to try this.

I've set up the game here: link to another game
