Interest check, The bad guys.

So I am running a pathfinder game once a week at the local game store. It's a great game with very smart players.

I need villains. Specifically people who handle the commanding of minions, make decisions on who's domain to attack. Ect.

This is a somewhat rules lite proposal where instead of being the good guys and going into the dungeon, you are the bad guys who order it to be built. You have budgets based on how well your minions conduct raids. You can steal from you fellow evil players. You can set traps and ambushes for the players. You can be the cunning evil person we all know you are. Plus if what you want is world domination, or just to slaughter then you can build a villian that way.

Re: Interest check, The bad guys.

Are you proposing a "game" where the bad guys (players) build dungeons and attempt to take over the world, and then use that information from the PbP as the plot for your table top game?

Very interesting, if that is what you are getting at (and excuse me if I'm slow to catch the point here, apologies).  What system are you thinking about and what kind of in game time scale? It seems like meshing a weekly game to the machinations of a PbP villain would be difficult, time wise. If the Villain pcs ' goal is domination, then in would suggest a game loosely based on Risk or a game like it (there are many). Dungeon building.... I'd have to think on that a bit. Perhaps someone else has a good idea?

Actually, Ultimate Campaigns seems like it would be perfect for this.

Re: Interest check, The bad guys.

Looking into specifics of which system would be viable. I'm glad that so far at least 3 people seem to have shown interest. As for how things will mesh together time wise players on rpol would plot and plan and build and then once a week everything would tick. At the same time in the week the local game would happen and that would affect things in the online game. The players are currently around levels 1-3 so as a party they are very weak. I am also using very harsh rules for things like hygiene, food, sleep in my local game. I would like to be able to reflect that aspect to the online game giving players here a sort of resource management that they must think about on a macro scale. Please note I am also a big fan of the villain with an escape plan. So if the players manage to get past the army of minions, the monsters, traps ect, the villain will still have a way to survive.

Re: Interest check, The bad guys.

I suspect the challenge of meshing the two environments together will be a difficult one, but if it works it could be fun.

You need to check that the proposed game is within RPOL's TOU, as a significant proportion of the game would take place off-site.

Re: Interest check, The bad guys.

If I were any guess, I'd say he didn't really make a post dealing with an offsite game. He made a post dealing with a game he plans to run on site and added that an offsite game will supplement and be supplemented by the onsite game. He also isn't checking interest in the offsite game.

I'd be interested in plotting the downfall of everything, so count me in.

Re: Interest check, The bad guys.

It might be worth it if Ultimate Campaigns gets used. Personally I wouldn't want to be saddled with the responsibility of creating some uber villain, strictly focusing on the villain's empire instead would be a nice change of pace.

Re: Interest check, The bad guys.

Reading through ultimate campaign now. I will likely be using that with a few customized things thrown in to make it more interesting.
