(IC) Rogue Trader: Servants of the House Leporidae (Adult?)
I have been awake for slightly over 24 hours now, so forgive me if I am a touch rambling, but I will try to be brief.
Myself and a couple of friends started a game of Rogue Trader over Skype early this morning, which was based on some now missing notes that I ginned up for a game many years ago which never went anywhere.
Thing is the game was intended for a much larger party, and we didn't get even all the way through the character introductions, and I have not had good luck with having pickup games on Skype, so though we all want to play this game I am thinking about moving it mostly onto RPoL with Skype and mayby Roll20 to deal with the tactical aspects of the game that don't go so well over Roll20, but I am wondering if there is enough interest to make that worth the time and trouble. (And before you ask I have talked to the mods about this and it's fine, as long as a major portion of the game is conducted over RPoL using other sites to handle thorny bits is NOT a problem. I am also willing to discuss other mediums for handling these segments, so long as they have a free voice conference option and preferably map sharing. )
Couple of Important caveats which may put a lot of people off:
1: The Post of RT is taken by an NPC. I have seen too many RT games go bad with PINEAPPLEING contests over who's "In Charge" and I and I am nipping that one in the bud. Jessica Loporidae is the RT and she is unquestionably the one in command. That said she relies on her people to guide and advise her, so its not like the PCs have no input, but the RT as always has final say.
2: We already have an Astropath and Arch Militant, which I know are the two most popular classes, but first come first served in this case. I would be willing to consider a second Arch Militant but another Astropath strain's credibility.
3: The various Xenos classes are right out. Yes I have the book they are in, but no I am not allowing them. A kroot might be an exception but not until the party makes it into the expanse, so if you are wanting to try for that class pipe up in this interest check thread and be willing to wait quite a while before joining the plot of the game.
4: Jessica is devout, and from a non-standard sect, so anyone interested in the Missionary character will need to be filled in on the background of that. This makes such a character more restrictive but easier to create for non-religious types looking to branch out as you have more of a framework on which to build your doctrine and preaching style. You can contact me Via r-Mail or in this thread to ask for the basic details.
5: The Starting Ship is also pre-designed at the insistence of the two existing players, as they both have had bad experiences with it being done IC among the characters. It actually is a pretty sweet Mechanicus Frigate on loan to the dynasty until a better ship is finished for them at the orbital shipyards of the Lathes worlds in the Calixas Sector.
6: The books I currently have are The Core Book, Into the Storm, Battlefleet Koronous, The Navis Primer, and the Bestiary. Unless one of the players can buy and send me a copy of another book content from it will not be permitted. That said we use the expanded origin chart from Into the Storm if anyone has that and cares to use it, with Motivation as a 'Free Row': I believe that the greatest of people can come from anywhere to become anything, even in a place such as the Imperium: if you have the will and the drive to be great you will find a way.
7: That said the expanded chart is NOT required, you can make a perfectly valid character with only the Core Book, all other content is strictly optional and/or necessary mechanical excerpts will be provided from the other books on an AS-NEEDED basis.
8: I am looking for no more than 2 in any one career path and no more than 1 character each of Astropath*, Navigator, Rogue Trader*, and Kroot Mercenary.
* = Already Taken.
Having seen the restrictions and not found them immediate turn offs does anyone wish to ask further questions or express interest? I am looking for at least 2 more players before I will consider opening the game on this site to be worth my while, with a hard cap on extra players accepted of 6 people.
Last thing to keep in mind, RT is the perfect game for situations where player end up dropping out. On a ship of over 10000 people surely ONE of them happens to have talents appropriate for a new character... The character who's player that has vanished either gets sent back after being wounded or if the player asks to be removed dies, and the new person comes in. Easy as pie, so the game can keep running as long as the ST holds out, or longer if you can get a Co-GM.
