Has anybody heard of the Warlord CCG/RPG?

I played the CCG, "Warlord: Saga of the Storm" for more than ten years while it was produced by AEG.  It also had a 4-book RPG made for it called, "Warlords of the Accordlands."  I own all 4 books, love the setting, and have no one to play it with.

*sad sigh*

Is there anybody in the RPoL community who owns and/or has heard of this game and/or would be interested in playing it?

I am familiar with the CCG. The RPG is news to me.

Was the RPG also done by AEG?

I am always interested in exploring something new.

I haven't found an AEG product I wasn't happy with.

If the books are in a shareable format, sign me up.

Re: Has anybody heard of the Warlord CCG/RPG?

I sat down with John Zinzer and Dave Williams before the CCG was introduced, in a hotel room at the LA airport and tested the draft game at the time. Loved the stack format and the fact that gaming dice were involved. I loved the game and played it until AEG sold it. Which broke my heart.

I've never seen the RPG but I'm interested.

Re: Has anybody heard of the Warlord CCG/RPG?

Hey Panacea, I believe that the books are easily available online.  I thought I saw the right ones on a site, but mentioning a specific site / price by name is banned commercial advertising under the ToU.*  However, I think I should be safe to say that I think they are available, should potential players look.

*Mods, thank you for your hard work.  Let me know if there is anything wrong with this revised post.

Re: Has anybody heard of the Warlord CCG/RPG?

I loved the CCG! I started in SotS too. I loved playing Uthanak, Sir Robby, and so many others. I was so happy when I got my first dragonlord. I knew they had an RPG, I just never knew it went anywhere/was published. The Warlord CCG crowd just died out in my area, owing to gamer politics and moneymaker that MTG is. I so wish I could play that game again.

I know nothing of the RPG, but might be willing to learn it if the game didn't start right away.

Re: Has anybody heard of the Warlord CCG/RPG?

Whoa!  Action on the thread.  After the first week I figured it was a dead end.  Glad I checked again.  :)

My husband and I have a huge, shared collection of cards.  He plays mostly fighter or wizard Throgs and Chosen.  I favor rogue or cleric Freeks and Dwarves.  going through the collection is like sitting down to reminisce with old friends.  Good times.

For those who were interested, the Temple of Lore forum is a great resource for anything Warlord related, both CCG and RPG.  Here's the link:  http://temple-of-lore.com/community/.

I guess, with all this chatter, IS anyone really interested in playing if I start up a game?  Or just trying out a quick, rules-lite tutorial, maybe?

Or are you talking about an RPG game based on the Warlords universe.

Re: Has anybody heard of the Warlord CCG/RPG?

In reply to Panacea (msg # 13):

I'd like to give it a test run. You can't really learn unless you play. I don't have the right frame of mind to learn a new game system in the next two weeks (I've recovering from the death of my Uncle and trying to keep the games I'm already in from going stagnant). If the game got started in like a month, or I could join late, I'd love to go back to the universe. I have no idea if you could do it, but I'd love to do an old school Taoth machine gun, or Sorcha dragon army type character. There;s Something nice about unleashing a barrage of over half dozen spells or having three Supremuses and several other dragons at your front ranks. Ya know?

I played any warlord I could get my hands on, but if I had to pick I liked Nothrogs most and dwarves the least. Really I fell out the game around the release of Xaxxon. The crowd that played just soured and there were no events anymore. So anything past that would be something I've only read about and not actually played with.

There are numerous ways we could make this work.

Player familiarity is key.

Tutorial to start would be best.

I would recommend private messages to get those interested on board and up to speed.

Re: Has anybody heard of the Warlord CCG/RPG?

Would you be kind of enough to give the names of the sourcebooks here? I have a second hand store that I shop at it that might carry these books.

Warlords of the Accordlands: The Campaign Adventure Book

Warlords of the Accordlands: The Master Codex

Warlords of the Accordlands: The World Atlas

Warlords of the Accordlands: Monsters and Lairs

Were there any others?

Re: Has anybody heard of the Warlord CCG/RPG?

Yeah, those four are all they published.

I've had three interested parties rMail me, so it looks like this is really going to happen.  I'm excited!  It will probably be a couple of weeks, though, while I prepare the basic information for people who can't purchase/find the books.  Anybody who rMailed me will get the announcement when the game is ready to go.

Thanks, everybody, for your interest.  :)
