Roleplaying in the Bad Movies

Any interest in a modified version of It Came From the Late, Late, Late Show? Any knowledge of what that is? I'd probably post all the relevant rules/alterations on the game if I were to run it.

Damn. Used to own this game, too. Yeah, I'd be interested.

Re: Roleplaying in the Bad Movies

We'll see what happens with other people before I post anything concrete. One thing that bears hashing out though: I'm likely going to do Cast Parties as events in which the Actors can interact with each other outside their movie roles. Among the bonus Fame Points awarded I'm likely to include bonuses for gratuitous nudity (anything from shower scenes to love scenes, which in keeping with non-pornographic cinema, won't show anything below the waist), because what's a bad movie without a random naked person? I'll probably handle it off the act(or/ess)'s Screaming skill. Someone's bound to sing in a shower or be overly boisterous with their affections, and if I do it that way, I won't have to add anything extra on top of what I may or may not be adding depending on the movie I run. Is any of this likely to be a problem?

Re: Roleplaying in the Bad Movies

Also, just so we're clear, the way I plan on running it, there'll be a production company that makes various movies. It'll be as active as the players make it, and there won't just be one scenario. Possible Scenarios include

Weird Wild West: Cthulhu has been summoned to the American Southwest and what was once fertile woodland is now a dissicated desert husk. The Giant Tentacled beast must be stopped before heat stroke drives everyone insane!

The Attack of the Amazingly Beautiful Evil Sorceress: An evil Sorceress has declared war on a medieval town, and the townsfolk can do nothing. Can a merry band of heroes stop the Sorceress before it's too late?

Knights of the Republica Generica: A long time from now, in a galaxy very nearby our own, A republic of Energy Sword weilding knights is disrupted by The Andromeda Empire. The emperor must die!

Gangstas in Space: I'm not gonna lie, I pretty much stole this off Saint's Row 3.

To tell the truth, I barely remember any details about the game, other than it was fun reading through the material. Much like Paranoia. No problems here with variants. I'll still need help making an actor.

I have a few small tweaks to that process as well. Slightly less randomization. Rolling a whole bag of dice for stats and skills was a little overkill in my book, and averaging the dice rolls seemed like the fairest way to go

I admit I am curious. However I have no idea what the game is other than what you have said. Any links to the books or anything?

Re: Roleplaying in the Bad Movies

Not really, I've been browsing the internet, and while I've found that there's a paperback off amazon for about a hundred bucks, I haven't been able to confirm that any particular one is the correct one, other than that one.

I did find this review: http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/13/13397.phtml

Which might be right. It is the correct stock number and has the correct number of pages.

Re: Roleplaying in the Bad Movies

Right, so there's a lot of rules that need clarification and tweaking anyway, so I'm thinking that since I'm working on that I may as well just post kind of a 'Houserule SRD' style anyway.

Re: Roleplaying in the Bad Movies

Yeah with a $100 pricetag and no pdf...wouldn't be interested. I make it a habit to try a game before I buy into it for any amount of money.

Re: Roleplaying in the Bad Movies

What I'm saying is not that there isn't any PDF, rather than I don't have it and haven't been able to find it. I do have the book though, and as I've said, I'll be writing all the relevant rules down in the game anyway. So if your lack of interest is on the basis of unavailability of rules, it's unfounded. If you don't like that I'm presenting rules that are changed from the original document, that's fine though. To each their own I suppose.Anywho, I'm working on that for anyone else that is interested.

Re: Roleplaying in the Bad Movies

Out of amusement and boredom I tried to see if I could make Kim Kardashian using the Inauguration Station for Saint's Row 4. If she looks in certain directions, the likeness is pretty accurate. If she doesn't she still looks like something that could have come out of Kris Jenner. That being said, I think if possible I may have more than one IRL celebrity make a cameo. Also both the Inauguration Station and the Initiation Station for 3 are valid chargen tools. I'll be posting details on the optional use of those resources in addition to fairly crunchy SRD style rules explanations.
