(I.C.) nWoD Gotham v.s. New York: Batman Hunter the Vigil

Open to feedback and ideas, still working out if straight basic New of Darkness applies.  The idea is simple if not vague, New York is slowly being infected by the evils of Gotham.  A network of Dark Knights prevail, from loner types such as we'll armed  "Taxi Driver" PC's to multi millionaire pseudo Bruce Waynes with bat mobiles and power armour.  Every PC would have a great deal of freedom in creating their own version of the Dark Knight. Or other cannon players with enough room for completely original ideas under the guise of the usual suspects.  One idea that keeps coming to mind is a Mech-warrior batman, almost completely machine or a nun under darkness becomes a lupine feral cat woman werewolf.  Just a few ideas on the wonderous opportunities offered by Gotham, the Dark Knights of New York.

For the most part the game would be solo run adventures.  Another wrinkle would be to re -create Batman enemies, a reboot much like the new 52 only more drastic and inventive.  The pc's that control the villains would be co gms, creating their own versions of the Joker, Bane, Riddler and Mr. freeze in any way that suits them as the dark tide that is Gotham takes modern New York on like a virus.

This would give a network of Hunter PCs, a group and cells of multiple Batmen and Batgirls, whom share a common enemy, a tide of injustice brought on reality, trying to really interpret and adjust to a world savaged by alternate reality foes.   Of,course trying  at all times to keep sanity under wraps along with failing humanity. A true test of the beasts inside the heroes.  Hoping for a long lasting game with room for growth, but also a day to day post that may seem directed at one PC but in the end effects all who defend the cities honor.

Part Dark Knight Returns part Many Deaths of Batman, the aim is to create a game where the comic world descends upon reality like the much overused Lovecraftian adjective. That being said this is detective comics and puzzles and problem solving would,be equal parts along with firearm skills and martial arts prowess.

Would love to see what rpol players could and would invent as their own version of the Caped crusader.  The game would be adult for various reasons, first off Gotham not to mention New York is not a PG environment.  Really looking for what kind of guidance and pointers a game like this could use as per usual rpol players are visceral  vorpal  swords of truth cutting to the bone of mechanics, systems and general gameplay understanding I only wish I had the experience to match.  Either way those looking for an original experience in a supers game feel free to express interest or opinion.

I truly wish to create a sandbox with a deep grained plot underneath the veneer of supers, even if Gotham is just a zombie attack on the big apple, or the Joker is a cohort of  dangerous Tea Party Leaders trying to assassinate Hillary Clinton. Imagine Frank Miller and Jonathan Lethem plotting out Xp points and plot points, the literal world,of Gotham would be a free zone to exhibit those characters too dark, perverse and radical for most games. This would be a place for experimenting with characters,  bad guys and play by posts frontiers.  Anyone can roll a d10, but what if the outcome was a choice between dark and darker..  Welcome to punch line of the killing joke a laugh track following you to a new idea based on the old axiom, justice cursed by,the shadows of doubt, remorse and the unforgivable sin of survival during tragedy."..

This has some cool to it.  Might I suggest Shadowrun though?  The gear customization and many other points to the system (not to mention cyberware and the ability to make mechs and robots and drones).

Edit:  Not to mention magic and physical magic enhancement (Physical Adepts).

Actually, do you have Mirrors? Dark Heroes are a template in it PERFECT for playing that.

Do we all play Batmen each, or are we allowed to make original Batman inspired vigilantes?

Still just tinkering with the idea, although I was thinking Batman would be a third tier organization within the Hunter groups.  Bruce Wayne might be Donald trump or David Byrne, more of a shadow operative as well. I will look into other systems but I know world of darkness and it easy to learn, but I would be up for trying something different. Players would be as solo as they wish but hopefully work together probably just a short prega e thread making contacts with one another. And indeed my PC back, pads are not made for long posts!

Villains also could be co gms. Putting plots together and letting the st play it out as well as allowing them to control a baddie, but not completely in charge of their henchmen.  Making it a bit nervy for all, as who would really work for the joker in their right mid;)

I wouldn't mind playing a villain, though of the nWoD books, there is a glaring hole where the Hunters stuff should be...

I thought this could be an interesting way to play a baddie, not truly PvP.  More of a plotting and letting loose doomsday devices upon the Big Apple, a ripple effect of evil, and even the one who looses his or her diabolical plan against the Dark Knight or humanity in general will not be safe from the danger.

One the Hunter note, I always felt it as thin on background stuff as well, that is why I felt it was good for a redux of a game where it would just give a common ground for PC's to make contacts with and I do like the "Tactics" aspect as I forsee most players mortals facing some seriously dangerous criminals and otherworldly beings.

That being said I am far from an expert on any of WW books, save maybe Mage.  But I am seeing more of a mortals game for the most part, and using systems of other games to create one of a kind villians and or Supers.

I see Paradox playing a roll as well for the Supers, this will be rules liteish, or a half homebrew of WW rules.  Although if a huge number of people are interested in something new I would be up for trying, and a Batman Shadowrun 5e game is damn tempting.

For true Supers there is More Than Human (http://wiki.rpg.net/index.php/MTH:Main_Page) a fan-game that is balanced. It'd be my first choice. It shares some DNA with Aberrant, and Mutants and Masterminds. It can be used 1e or 2e of NWoD
