For a long time I have considered running a game based on my favorite movie.

I think the genre is awesome and we could do a lot with the story. There are dozens of places to launch a campaign from. We could assume that Deckard was killed by Roy and that Roy lived. We could follow Dave Holden and not have Deckard get involved. Or we could run a game along side Holden and Deckard's investigation but not tied to our own.

I think that this (game-wise) sounds like Shadow run without the magic.

Thoughts ? Has anyone run a similar game ?

There is a Blade Runner game (I've only seen it).  Look at Cyberpunk 2020.  And I wouldn't directly tie it in to the movie.  That's the way people will end up arguing.

If you were going to do this, might be better to take a look at how the old Westwood Studios game was done as far as a parallel but separate story.

I would probably run it after Dekard left with Rachael.

Would be terribly interested, being a big Blade Runner and PKD fan.

Of course it would depend on which system was used and whether I had access to it.

I'm pretty much interested in all things cyberpunk, if I have the time I would be interested in at least looking at this game

Sounds interesting to me. Blade Runner is also one of my favorite movies, and whenever I've played Shadowrun I've always thought "man I wish this didn't have magic in it."

Only a couple more years until 2019..... :P

I ran a game using D20 Modern several years ago.  Gurps might be worth looking at too.  In any case, color me interested.

Looks like there is enough interest. I am thinking a small group with fairly fast postings.

I am wrapping up a game now. Once I close it out I will get to building this. I do think it will be very cool.

Easy enough to drop the magic from Shadowrun.  Very easy in fact.  You have to modify the setting a bit, but that's it.

Well you really do not have to modify the setting as the setting IS the movie. We have all seen the movie and can all understand "NO" magic. (chuckle)

I am going to take a look at Cyyber Punk for the rules possibility. Running this is a no brainer for me, but the rules decision is up in the air, as none of the systems I am currently familiar with will fit the bill and I have not played Shadow Run in twenty years.

While Cyberpunk is a great game, Shadowrun has an advantage in keeping up with current tech.  The 'Augmented Reality' is something that will very likely occur.  Look at Minority Report for a good idea of how it would look.

I meant modifying Shadowrun itself really.  While the magic rules certainly mesh with everything else great, they are separate enough to easily remove.

I would be interested in playing.

I might also be interested depending on the system.
