+ + + + (I.C.) Dust Tactics RPG + + + +
I have only played a few games of Dust tabletop, and was surprised there wasn't an rpg for Paolo's game system. The interest check is more up for members who would like to build a Dust Tactics RPG, not just play in a Dust Tactics RPG ( I am far from a Dust expert). although if I had to build it myself I will.
I could easily see using Savage Worlds as a basis with Weird Wars II as well, although I though part of the fun would be building a game as well. Something that would work fast for PbP, almost like Dust's simple rules, or Axis & Allies miniatures as well. The fun would also be building a back story for alien tech, and possible alien/fantasy aspects and having the PC/Hero's part of the IQ divisions of the armies.
Of course 40k's "Only War", comes to mind along with Battletech and countless others, but this could be even a bit more simple. And a real focus I would like to see happen is each character/hero being able to control a Dust Tactics size squad or Mech unit.
It could be like very, very, very simplified Advanced Squad Leader with role-play. Unless anyone knows of a good Squad based RPG system? Most advice I have received on forums was to turn a turn based board game into an RPG, which might be easier although it does sound fun to actually build an a simple RPG game from scratch, with a the quasi-vague background "Dust" already has.
What I could see happening is a small group of heros? 3-4 max, with a squad underneath them, bumping a total up to less than 20 players and NPC, plus a Mech or two.
This would allow a hero/PC to engage in battle with the enemy at different posting rates without losing such specifics as INT and such as the battle is all happening at once. And the game would have very specific missions, keeping things simple.
Just checking obviously the basic interest level as well, I just love the flavor of WWII meets B.P.R.D., and tapletop meets RPG! Looking for advice, Input and Proposals. Cheers!
