Anyone interested in a Serenity/Firefly game?

New to this site but a 30 year vet to RP. I've ran a Serenity world based game on another site like this and it had a lot of potential...before my world got upended.

I used the Serenity game book as a reference and was waiting for the DM's guide to come out but I'm not sure if it ever did, so what I'll probably do is use Pathfinder for the rules, unless something else comes up and bites me on the apple.

Sounds like fun. There's always the new Firefly RPG from Weisman studios, which uses an enormously improved version of the serenity rules, and has quite a bit of Storytelling info in the core book already.

Interesting. I did not know that. I'll see what's new and perhaps, if there is more interest, I'll ramp up my collection and start something. Thanx for the info

Sounds kind of cool. They just added technology rules to the PRD so you can add modern weapons in with ease.

If it was newbie friendly for those who don't own the rules, I might be interested...  :)

Re: Anyone interested in a Serenity/Firefly game?

Love the show, love the universe but would rather play in an analog than in one where there is established canon that players might know about but PCs would not, so either a Firefly like or the universe several years after the events in Serenity have percolated through and changed things a bit.

Excellent. The adventure I started several years ago took place 7 years after the Miranda Revelation and I would still like to pursue that setting. There would be a new ship, new crew, and it would not revolve around the series characters.

It looks like there are several interested people so I'll flush things out and see how my schedule is. Thanx for replying guys. I appreciate it.

Pathfinder? Interesting. Not sure how the space combat or anything would work, but I suppose it has rule for guns. I could be interested.

Re: Anyone interested in a Serenity/Firefly game?

I'd be very interested if this went pathfinder or freeform. Instead of using straight pathfinder there is a good alternative for non-fantasy settings.

http://www.d20modernpf.com/introduction

Basically, an attempt to convert d20 modern to pathfinder. Makes more sense for the setting. A lot less adaptation required to make the system fit the setting.

Re: Anyone interested in a Serenity/Firefly game?

I would be interested, there is a system out for serenity though.

It seems there is a new one out also....:)

I am not sure how well pathfinder will transfer to the feel of serenity but I am always willing to try something new.

Have you seen the new comic book series? It takes place six months after the movie and introduces some new concepts the GM and players could tool around with. Just a thought.

No D20, please. That system makes my eyes bleed. I'd go for the Window or even Savage Worlds, but those rules-heavy systems are for purplebellies. (Just kidding, to each her own.)

Cool.  I look forward to seeing what you come up with. If not using the "official" rule set I would suggest GURPS could handle it well.

Ok, the game is up and running. For those interested, I am first accepting the role of the Captain. Come up with a unique character concept and submit to my personal email that is listed in the game discription. The game is called Into the Black and it's under action/adventure, western, and Science fiction. Good luck and thanx for the interest.
