interest check: Slayers

Greetings there. I have just finished nearly every once of footage of the slayers, anime, movies, OVA's, etc. Which now im felling like trying my hand at a slapstick, humorous, game of my own for a hoot or two. So any interest, or suggestions on a system would be appreciated.

Re: interest check: Slayers

Love slayers and would enjoy playing it. Depends what system you use though.

There is a d20 slayers book that I know of. Not sure if there are any others tailored to the anime.

Re: interest check: Slayers

Inverse.org hasn't been updated since 2003, I believe, but it still has a wealth of information.

I have no experience with the Slayers d20 game.

All of that said...  I'm interested.

Re: interest check: Slayers

The Slayers d20 game is a supplement for BESM d20, which has been out of print for 8 years or so now.  I'd suggest looking elsewhere for a system.

The over-the-top nature of the source material probably lands it more into the realm of superhero RPG than fantasy... M&M might work well for it.  As would most rules-lite systems.

Re: interest check: Slayers

There is the BESM rules(2nd or 3ed, the d6 one) for it... heck, i think there iss 2 or 3 books, and I have physical copies...

Count me 128% in for a slayers game.

In reply to swordchucks (msg # 4):

Just because it's out of print doesn't mean it isn't good for it. The Slayers d20 supplement is designed specifically for Slayers RP. Though honestly if you're looking for a more flexible system just using BESM 3rd edition and using the Slayers d20 as a hint book, you'd accomplish the best results.

Re: interest check: Slayers

I'm not sure why people don't think BESM can do over the top. They have skills that range from Batman level "advanced human" skills to abilities that allow you to throw galaxies at people. How "over the top" do you need to get with a system before people think it'll do OK.

Re: interest check: Slayers

For the record, the Slayers d20 book is completely standalone. It was made by the same company as BESM, but that's it. (There are Slayers BESM books which are meant for play with BESM, 2nd edition, I believe. But those are a separate set.)

You can also color me interested.

In reply to Serifina (msg # 10):

sorry to this to you all but from what i have seen, I am going to try and run the game in FATE accelerated. unless of course i find something else light on crunch i like more. So if I could get a count of those interested with the current system, I can think about starting a game.

In reply to Lunarius (msg # 14):

well im thinking fate since I don't know if i have the wherewithal to run anything crunchier. So if there is not enough interest with the system i picked then ill have to scrap it. Sorry all and thanks for the input, best of luck with your games.
