Kindred of the East

I am looking over the books for the OWOD kindred of the east, and wondered what type of interest there would be in running a Kue-jin game.

I think it would be one of 4 possible concepts.  One would be a Modern game with Kuejin living in the East and dealing with uniquely Kue-jin problems, or a group of Modern Kue-jin living in the US, dealing with the Kindred either in an aggressive or defensive manner.

Alternately, it could be a historical game, with Kue-jin living in Medieval China or Japan.  Or Kue-jin who have ended up in medieval or renaissance Europe, dealing with the kindred and being totally out of place.

Wasn't sure if a game like any of these would appeal to people.

Re: Kindred of the East

Mix of Kindred of the West meeting Kindred of the East appeals to me. Have run similar concepts in my head but never really played in a game of it.

I'd be interested in any of those propositions...

I'd like to be in a KOTE game, though I'm not particularly in favor of East-meets-West.

Re: Kindred of the East

I have most of the books and would be interested in either the insular Kue-jin dealing with stuff in the east or the historical ides. I find the east meets west storylines problematic.

What do you find problematic about them?

Re: Kindred of the East

I'd be interested as well, most likely in an insular or East-meets-West game (I just personally don't know how well I'd work in a historical setting).

Kindred of the East is a bit... damaged when compared to other settings. Mostly "Eastern mysticism is way kewl and ghost vampires are 1337!"

Re: Kindred of the East

I agree that they are a bit more powerful than most other character types in owod, but game balance wouldn't be an issue with all players as kuejin.  The kindred would be the antagonists/possible allies.

Ah, in that case I have no problem with it.

Re: Kindred of the East

I would love to do a Kue-jin game that spanned several time periods.  Having the players begin as new Kue-jin in the medieval period, only to live through many of the pivotal eras of early modern history, and end up in modern times.  It would take a group very dedicated to the game, and working together in the long term, however.

The multiple time period idea would be great.

Re: Kindred of the East

Kue-jin are now over powered when compaired to combat heavy vampires and fera....

on an average to avrage basis though they are better, but you but they can't keep up with lots of exstra actions AND physical strength at all..

After all black winds only has so many points you can put divide up, yet a vampire can have potance, celerity, AND fortitude ... they could have all three at 5... a kue-jin would only have 5 to split among the 3

Re: Kindred of the East

Yeah. A cross-era chronicle would be epic (in more ways than one). I'd love to play in that.

Re: Kindred of the East

I'm going to look over the books and see if I can run a viable long term, century spanning game.  I will post here if I start it.
