IC: Elder Scrolls game in Skyrim

I have this idea for an Elder Scrolls game set in Skyrim province, concurrent with but separate from the main plot of the video game.

The player characters would have been hired by a scholar who is travelling to Skyrim in order to look for somebody, who with the civil war and all the other unpleasantness going on in Skyrim decided he needed bodyguards.

The game would be fairly rules-light, with no attempt to actually recreate the rules from any incarnation of The Elder Scrolls. That is, if I don´t end up making it completely free-form, with abilities and/or skill only there to give an idea what each character is good at.

Would anyone be interested in this?

Re: IC: Elder Scrolls game in Skyrim

I might be... I did love Oblivion but unfortunately I had Skyrim pre-patched with the frame-rate bug :(

Still... Thought about maybe using Dungeon World to run it? Super rules light, char gen done in minutes, there's no real setting as you fill gaps in as you go. Its made as a kind of group story-telling type of game. Uses 2d6+ stat mechanic, with a 'succeed, succeed with cost or fail but gain 1xp' mechanic, so all rolls are worth it.

Dungeon World Skyrim sounds amazing, cero1. In a way I almost don't have words for.

Might be interested, but more in a BRP-ish sort of light system.

Re: IC: Elder Scrolls game in Skyrim

I honestly have been playing a lot of Skyrim so you can color me interested. I agree that having some type of minimal advancement would be cool. Just to make it feel like you were making some progress in the game, getting better at what you are good at.

Is dungeon world something that can be found for free online? I would love to check it out and see what I think.

Not that it matters but are any of the organizations going to be open for joining and the like? Or maybe becoming a werewolf or vampire lord?

Re: IC: Elder Scrolls game in Skyrim

All right, so there is interest... good.

As for rules, I don´t know either Dungeon World or BRP; I have something more like Classic Traveller in mind - 2d6 plus skill level. Though frankly, storytelling is going to be more important than good rolls. I´m going to set up the game, write up what rules I have in mind, and then we´ll see. The rules won´t be set in stone, either - if we agree to change them, they change.

Regarding organisations - outright joining an organization and doing series of quests for them might be too much of a distraction from the storyline, however there´s nothing that say you can´t work with one of them on a particular task now and then. And depending on their backstory, characters might actually start out being members of some organisation or the other. The only thing I´m ruling out right away is affiliation with the Thalmor.

Re: IC: Elder Scrolls game in Skyrim

Classic Traveller is a favorite of mine, although I never thought of using it for fantasy myelf. (Yes I know there's a fan-made Traveller fantasy variant.)

Anyway, I'd like to check out your proposal when you get it put togther.

In reply to Finlos (msg # 8):

Same here. I'm up for Free-form or DW (or another good free online system).
