The Only Fantasy Game You'll Ever Need!

Well... probably not but there is going to be a lot of the fantasy genre covered. This is a game inspired by a map on deviantart called the Only Fantasy Map You'll Ever Need and it is awesome. Multiple websites from RPGnet to Reddit have held long conversations about it and - like many others who saw it - we decided to build a game around it. A game built on fantasy Tropes and archetypes and using Dungeon World.

But the world is too big to limit our options with it. So I and wshafer have come up with the following concept. Individual adventures set in different parts of the world - which may or may not link up down the road - and with people playing a different character for each adventure. Different settings and adventures will also have access to different classes.

No one has to play in every adventure. There will be a thread in game advertising each adventure as it comes up along with a list of the classes available for it. There will only ever be one character of each class for any one adventure. If you are new to Dungeon World that is okay. All the basic rules and Classes are available for free online and will be linked to in game.

The initial proposed adventures are a dungeon crawl set in the Ancient Sumerian Awful as a crash course for Dungeon World and - potentially - a Ninja Scroll inspired adventure through the Jade Empire.

Dungeon World Info: http://www.dungeonworldsrd.com/

But don't let that last link fool you. There will be closer to 18 to 20 different Classes available at different times in game.

So anyone interested?

Such an awesome concept... So sad I don't have Dungeon World... T_T

I'd play round the whole Hellfire Imperium/Crumbling Crusader States/Ancient Sumerian Awful/Mountains of Madness area, using the Song of Ice and Fire RPG... Though I suppose that means I'm asking for SIFRP game set in Essos... ^^'

The base rules of Dungeon World are available for free. Everything you need to know in a single small download. It's a really easy system to learn.

Some of those places seem pretty awesome, the Golden Goblin Hordes across the Steppes is kinda interesting as a concept and Tiger-Headed Opium Nightmare just South of the Mountains of Madness and Crawling City, few games really hit on Jacob's Ladder style 'Nam madness crossed with a bit of Lovecraft :)

Not played before, but from the link provided the system looks interesting and easy enough to learn and I like the concept of the game.

Re: The Only Fantasy Game You'll Ever Need!

Sounds good fun but light with lots of options. Maybe picking up and putting down characters as the adventure fits.

I ran a dnd next game for a bit that had open pick for adventures not having to follow a set game path. Worked ok for a bit with two GMs running different adventures.

Please let me know if this happens.

Re: The Only Fantasy Game You'll Ever Need!

As both GMs are busy this weekend we are looking to open this game up early next week. We are both reallly psyched about it. With this kind of interest and the ideas we have been tossing around we are really looking forward to this game. So many things we can do with it.

I'm in.  As long as you keep it as tongue in cheek as the setting sounds currently.

Re: The Only Fantasy Game You'll Ever Need!

The adventures won't necessarily be tongue in cheek. Some may be but I don't usually run really lighthearted adventures. My co-gm does from time to time and I am at least considering an adventure based equally off of We be Goblins & Night of the Lepus.

Yes. Separate and distinct. Different cast and culture. Most likely different tones and genres.
