I've gotten the itch to run an Aberrant game that starts at the beginning of the emergence of Novas into the world, shortly after the Galatea explosion. Characters would be among the first Novas and would, therefore, be instrumental in shaping the course of the new world. I will probably set it in Chicago, as it is the major city I am most familiar with.

I have two questions:

1) Is there any interest in such a story?

2) If so, would you prefer that the explosion (and the subsequent emergence of Novas) take place in 1998 or have the explosion happen today, in 2018? (Either way, this story will quickly diverge from the canon timeline.)

I'd be interested in hearing more.  I'm aware of the existence of the game but I've never actually read any of it and so wouldn't have any opinion on adherence to canon.

Potentially interested. Would mildly prefer 1998 just for the spread of years that then rolls forth to mess about in.

Are you picturing starting characters? The idea of putting a stamp on the age as it takes shape/the nature of the new world that unfolds brought to mind the notion of those novas that came out of the gate with more oomph when it dawned.

I like the setting, but the system is a disaster.

I'd certainly be interested as well.  I've liked the Aberrant/Trinity setting since I saw it but have never gotten a good chance to play.

I'd love to be in an Aberrant game, had one that looked promising for a few weeks, but now looks like it's not going to go anywhere.

Don't mind time line and I have character ready to go! ;)

Okay, I'm glad to see there's plenty of interest out there. I'll start thinking about and working on this more seriously now.

We'll be using the original Aberrant ruleset (not Aberrant d20 or any other variation that might exist). I know the system is rather wonky and unbalanced but I do happen to think it works well enough.

2018 setting as though the Galatea blew up in 1998 and Novas have been running around for 20 years or 2018 and the Galatea is just blowing up and Novas are new to the game now?

I like the idea of modernizing to 2018, just curious how you'd want to play that.

My concept will work with either option. Will Utopia/Team Tomorrow be a thing in this world?

From this, I would think the answer is ‘that depends ...” since I’ve gleaned from Hobgob’s initial message that he is giving the characters a big place in how the world accepts/rejects/incorporates Novas into the new normal. Team Tomorrow didn’t pre-exist the Galatea, but Project Utopia has deep roots, so that’s a possibility, but knowing about it??? Does that make sense?

Answered my question as well! 2018 and among the first Novas sounds good to me.

Knowing we're the first Aberrants and will be rebooting the timeline, I vote 2018.

I am also interested, and would like to see the setting kicked off in 2018. Would love to be one of the first Nova's and exploring how powers work and how they can begin to change society.

after a second thought I think I'll put my vote on 2018, I think it would be cool to see how things would progress for the world of today which is far more chaotic than the "naive" 1998.

How close to cannon are you planning the game to be? would there be a Team Tomorrow? would Ibiza still be the thing? and how much players actions would impact the game?
