IC: Freeform Canon Multigenre Doctor Who Crossover Game
Here's the pitch:
The 12th Doctor (that's me) has found himself stranded on a planet. But he's not alone. Besides himself and his (at first) mysterious enemy, he discovers other beings as well: characters from across time, space, and realities. The idea is that everyone gets to pick a single canon representation from a specific intellectual property (Star Wars, Star Trek, DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Transformers, Firefly, Voltron, Warner Brothers Cartoons, Disney, SpongeBob SquarePants, Harry Potter, etc.). Once someone has pulled from that well, it's closed. This would be a closed-end game, meaning everyone would be writing to a specific ending, unless everyone was having such a good time they wanted to continue the story, in which case it would be all aboard the TARDIS and off they'd go.
Key things to keep in mind:
1. This would be a freeform, go nuts, lighthearted romp. If your character doesn't play well with others, they should find another game.
2. Everyone would have an equal say in how things progress, and all players would need to abide by the "Yes and..." rule, meaning if someone says "Hey look, a dinosaur!" we all need to acknowledge it and make it a part of the story.
3. The game will be rated Adult. Not because I anticipate any hardcore action, but because I'm an old guy and want to write with mature people who've been around the fiction block.
4. I'd like this to be a fast-moving game where everyone helps drive the story forward rather than waiting for the GM (me again) to move every piece of the puzzle. Once everyone knows where we are and what we're doing, everyone can help get us clear of the hurdles that stand in our way and get us home.
