There are two types of people who may be viewing this information, those who understand what the phrase "LBB Traveller game mostly using Books 1-3, plus CoTi for PCs, starting in Lanth Subsector" means, and those who do not.

Traveller has been called the D&D of Science Fiction, and even after 30+ years it still holds up well. While I have great respect for many of the later works in the Traveller Canon, the first books are what I know best and feel best able to carry a game on RPoL.

Any LBB players out there? I'm not looking for a full-on merchant prince game, nor a band of mercenaries, but a little of many things- some trade if needed to support the ship, some combat because the future can be a dangerous place, some exploration and archaeology because well its interesting...

I have become aware of the Cepheus Engine (and from that Traveller), so color me interested.

I have the Mongoose Traveller version but don't have the LBBs anymore.

I would be interested in playing.

I'd love to play, but presently have my hands full between what I already do here and "real-life" (what a concept!).  Regrets.  I hope it goes well and that, as my present situation changes maybe I can join at a later time.

There was a Humble Book Bundle, about a year ago, that had the entire Traveller line for something like under $20.

I mean all of it. Every Little Black Book, every supplement and add-on and what-not. The whole production line, in PDF form.

Sadly, it came up at the later end of a month where I was broke, and it expired before I got paid.

OK, so seems there is some definite initial interest.

Few points to clarify, maybe that will encourage or discourage some of you.

1) There are several resources out there with a good deal of the content (or items so similar as to be usable) for Classic Traveller that you can access without cost. For example, those of you with Mongoose Traveller or the Cepheus engine would have enough common ground that you and I could work together to resolve any discrepancies.

2) I am old enough that the acronym MTU (My Traveller Universe) holds a good deal of weight. Thus, there are some items I would wish to incorporate into my game. First and foremost, I dislike the very slow and painful system described for skill advancement. I  would be including the means to improve, and to an extent acquire new skills in the game

3) There's a lot I like in Books 4-7, but I prefer a game in the more small-scale setting of books 1-3. That is to say no 30,000 ton cruisers or FGMP armed troopers in battle dress. To me, that creates a more Star Wars type of game, where I am looking for more of a Serenity or Blake's Seven.

Hope that helps and would be interested in feedback from those of you who've chimed in as well as any additional comments

Still interested!

1. I have Mongoose Traveller; downloaded some of the Classic LBBs but the formatting was so messed up I couldn't read them.

2. You're the GM; it's your universe anyway. :) I'm not experienced enough with the system to offer feedback on the merits of various skillup systems.

3. Small-scale is cool. :)

It's a while since I played Traveller, but this is very tempting. I'm another LBB 'paleogamer', but I do like the Mongoose Character Generation, with its backgrounds, point-buy, and its lack of Russian Roulette...
Small-scale, non-military, with a possibility of self-improvement suits me just fine.

I am actually modifying character creation in some ways that you might find congenial.

I have a skeleton up link to another game. Please check in there, or PM me if you have additional questions.

I probably wont be starting for a week or two, there's a lot of prep-work ahead, but no reason people cant start looking and pondering characters.
