Where no man has gone before (adult) (IC)

Recently I have been watching some old Star Trek.

I thought it might be fun to have a space adventure romp.

The setting would be at the end of the original series. The crew is made up of mostly new recruits, sent on a five year mission to the edge of Federation space to represent Federation interests, acting as diplomats between species and employing force as needed.

Five years is a long time to be isolated, so interpersonal relationships between crew members is encouraged.

The old tropes of the series will be implemented. Sexy aliens. Transporter malfunctions. Ship to ship combat. Away missions. Etc.

Wanted to know if people would be interested in this game.

Could be interested, depending on the system you plan to use.

How exactly would the game be structured?  The GM is the captain and the PCs are freshly-minted officers?

I was planning on the players taking the role of the command crew, including the captain. However if there is an overwhelming desire among the players for me to NPC the role, I could.

In reply to Gamergirl (msg # 6):

Ah, I guess I misunderstood what you meant by "new recruits."

As to the systems, the Microlite version is ready to go.  You'd have to hack the Barbarians version.

I'm interested either way!

Microlite system looks easy enough, and I do love me some Star Trek. I'm interested.

A system similar to Barbarians of the Void (which is based on Barbarians of Lemuria) is Star Trek Alpha Quadrant, which is based on the 2d6 Cepheus Engine.

I haven't played it, but it looks pretty good.

To explore strange new worlds. To seek out new life and new civilizations..... and sleep with their women...…

I could be interested in this. So far I'd prefer the microlite system you're considering.

In reply to badpenny (msg # 10):

There's also Star Trek Adventures, which is a 2d20 game from Mophidius Entertainment.

Yeah, but that's not free.  These other games are.

Where No Man Has Gone Before 2.0 looks like a simple, easy-to-learn system, and the Player Quick Start is great!

Well, if cost is an issue, FATE should do well for Star Trek, and you can use the SRD.

I've tried fate. I really, really wanted to like fate.

Unfortunately, I didn't. Just wasn't for me.
