Horror Western

The players are bounty hunters in the mid 19th-century American West, specializing in hunting those who transgress the laws of God and nature. Monsters. Evil spirits. Degenerate cultists and killers who have transcended their humanity to become something more - and less.

If you're interested, vote on a system to run it in.

1. GURPS. 150 point characters. Lethal combat, so traps and ambushes are a better idea than straight up gunfights. For people who prefer tactical choices.

2. World of Darkness, using the 2e Chronicle of Darkness rules. May or may not involve canon vampires, werewolves, mages, etc. No, you can't play something other than human, c'mon man.

3. Gumshoe's Fear Itself. More of an investigative focus than the others. Emphasis on figuring out what's going on, clues, and problem solving.

Hi, I would go for GURPS. I would also do WoD if we are Vampires or something.

No, as a WoD game the players would be human. Not to say they couldn't be embraced or awaken as mages or whatever, but that'd have to happen in the course of play.

I'd be interested if we use WoD/CoD.  Too bad Vigil 2e isn't out yet.

Interested in this too. I’m not familiar with the systems though but have played 1 or 2 games in GURPS and tried WoD once, so I’d vote for either of those systems. But that is, if you don’t mind a newbie to the system to join.

Seems pretty split, but I'm going to go with GURPS. I'd be happy to help those new to the system with their characters. Will post a link to the game shortly.

Will PCs have any access to non-mundane powers (Blessed, Psi, etc.)?  :o

OakMaster: Channeling, Medium, Higher Purpose, and True Faith. These suit priests and mystics of various religions. I'll also permit a Secret Advantage - you may have access to an advantage that isn't listed here, but it might also just be something mundane.

Someone might discover that they're immune to vampire mind control, or that they have psychometry, or they might have Weapon Master with a weapon they've never seen before.

Game is up and recruiting.

There's darkness in the west. A savage brutality that the white man ain't yet been able to tame. Course, they done brought with them their own special brand of darkness, choked with coal dust and screaming along the Oregon Trail. Betwixt the two is a special kinda crazy that gets bred by people isolated by endless horizons.

First settlers called it prairie madness.

Out west where the law ain't so thick, folks gotta take it upon themselves to keep the peace. Sometimes a man so mean the local sod-busters can't catch him, they offer good money for any bounty hunter willing to take the contract. Sometimes it ain't a man, though. Least ways not anymore.

That's where we come in.

Near as you know, The Old Man is the only one organizing posse of hunters to go after what lurks in darkness. And he has an eye for hunters. Maybe you barely survived an attack by something that was all smoke and teeth. Maybe you never seen nothin' like that, but were at the top of your game huntin' men. Maybe you came to him.

Either way, you're in it now. Huntin' the lone cold ranges, far from the fancy folk back east, the only thing between the homesteaders and a shallow grave.
