OOC #38
*grumble grumble* So, the advance check I'm supposed to be getting for my next upcoming freelance gig (well, it was my next until I booked doing makeup for a publicity shoot for a show, this weekend) apparently got sent out last week, and then returned to the sender for some bizarre reason, and is getting sent out again THIS week. Hopefully, right away...
I'd be fine, financially, IF my landlord had handled this month's rent check the way he normally does. But, instead of hanging onto it until the middle of the month (which is the norm for him), he took it to the bank just a few days after he took LAST month's rent check...
Now, I know...you're supposed to keep track of checks you've written and account for them when you're figuring out your available balance. I really struggle with that with my ADHD...it's just not a pressing priority often enough to make it habit. So, when I went to Vegas, I had enough money in my account to cover ONE rent check, plus trip expenses. When the second check hit the bank, it threw everything into disarray.
This advance check would have been way more than enough to cover the problem...and it still will be, WHEN IT FINALLY GETS HERE. But right now, I'm limited in how far I can go on this project, because some of the supplies I was going to use are readily available on Amazon, but all I have left, pretty much, is the cash that was in my wallet when I came home from Vegas, until after next weekend. That was supposed to be the whole reason for paying me ahead of time...cover supplies for the project, and then they also added on the rest they were going to pay me for labor, just to make it easy. No check means I'm at a screeching halt on ordering anything from anywhere, unless I can walk in and pay cash for it, and there just aren't that many places around here that carry the kind of foam sheeting I was looking at...
So, yeah...I'm a little bitter right now. I'll get over it as soon as I get paid...either by the park, or by the organization I'm building this thing for (the movie theater paycheck goes to a different bank.)
