Heavy Metal NOISE!

By 21XX the earth had developed reliable interplanetary travel to Mars through mostly private industry due to the collapse of international space agencies. Within a century the earth went interstellar, finding alien contact with the beings of a planet called Terra in the Alpha Centuri system. The earth humans would inhabit or help colonize 9 other habitable planets, during which time they met other species eerily similar to various fantasy races in both eastern and western culture. Interestingly, they also met other humans, who strangely followed a similar evolutionary path. It struck a heavy blow for western "One True God" religions to discover our own kind on other planets...

The question arose whether their souls could be saved. The answer was mostly unsatisfactory. There were a few religious wars on Earth, and occasional uprisings on other planets. The latter were easy to deal with since the people who were totally blind to the irony of preaching the spiritual purity and "Chosen" nature of The Earth were few and far between.

While that never went away, it was mostly sorted out as part of "Joining the Intergalactic Federation". The Terran and Earth humans were part of the Federation for a few centuries. It all came to a head later, when a "Necromundus" was discovered when the Sol System planets Earth and Mars lose contact with Terra-1 on Alpha Centauri.

The Galactic Federation is falling apart. Several Terran planets have already been destroyed by this mysterious force. Often times when it is first discovered on a planet, they have less than 200 hours before complete organic destruction. The Prevailing opinion is that it isn't magic, or if it is, it doesn't affect spacecraft in the area. So far investigations have been fruitless. Those who investigate are largely pooled from the masses who have no choice but to help, and maybe a few people whose bravery is only exceeded by their stupidity.

We're using Modern AGE and a Heavy Metal AGE supplement I wrote.

Ok, looking for 2-3 more players to start. We're playing characters in a decent sized mercenary company working with the Galactic Federation to look into why planets are suddenly losing contact with the federation. Are you:

  • A misfit
  • A delinquent
  • A glory seeker
  • Bored
  • Desperate for a change of scenery?

Sigmar's Irregulars is the right company for you. The Work's good, pay kind of sucks, but you get spoils from whatever dumpsterfire of a planet they send you to.

Note: While we are going for the theme of Heavy Metal, it's worth noting that it's more of a style thing, and won't likely (deliberately) include the Loc Nar, Taarna, or other details from existing Heavy Metal Magazine works or Heavy Metal films.

The party blew the Irregular's obstacle course right out of the water, and are picking gear. After that, they'll be dropping by a local Cantina for a break before the first adventure. The time is ripe for a new arrival.

The new Irregulars Recruits are about to engage their first mission on Terra I (Earth)! If you want to join now, you could play:

A pilot or another Irregular (they will be with the group stepping into the Empyrean Gates of Alpha Centauri and shuttling down to earth from Moonbase Luna)

Lieutenant Colonel Timothy Thomas or Captain Arthur Thomas, brothers of the player Riley Thomas. (They will not enter play until the party is on Earth.)

Since then, there is speculation that genetic modification is taking place on Earth (intel suggests that military forces on the ground are fighting "an ogre" and possibly a few creatures that resemble stereotypical zombies), so it's also possible for perspective entrants to play members of other races within a short supplemental document that I wrote.

We went a little slow for a while, but we're hopefully picking back up. We'll be packing up and leaving for Earth soon. Potential players could create (in order of preference):

An Irregulars Pilot
An Irregulars Cargo Specialist
An Earth Soldier (possibly related to the character Riley Thomas)
An Earth Civilian caught up in the mess (possibly subjected to experimentation).

  • The party just got involved in a nuclear explosion on the planet Earth (Terra I) in the Sol system.
  • The reports all over Galnet say that whatever it was creating mindless hordes on Terra I is losing influence and those affected are recovering. A Spokesperson from Booker Interstellar Dynamics has released a statement saying that they are assisting the government in a cleanup effort to reverse the damage the hordes caused. Members of the Irregulars report seeing someone who looks like he could be related to one of their people in the press conference photos.
  • On Terra II in the Alpha Centauri system, the Empyrean Gates are receiving strange signals.

Potential new players can play any of the characters in the previous post, along with anyone who could have been caught in the nuclear event on Earth for plot reasons that will be explained in further detail upon you being accepted to the game.
