In the heart of Downtown Vancouver sits a quaint, quiet little apartment building that overlooks English Bay and washes over the sounds of the inner city sights. 12 stories tall and built in the early 1960's, Davie Manor has seen the rise of housing prices, and thankfully only a handful of upgrades and renovations in it's time. The residents who live here are happy neighbors, and during the summer a few of the tenants host an annual courtyard BBQ to bring the community together.
The building managers, Mr and Mrs. Pennington live on the 1st floor with their English Bulldog, Kingsley. A friendly woman, Mrs. Pennington mostly keeps to herself, but can be a bit of a stickler for children who leave fingerprints on the building windows and elevator buttons. Mr. Pennington is an electrical engineer, and can occasionally be seen sprucing up the building from time to time when a light bulb goes out, or a dryer needs fixing. Overall, they are a happy couple who enjoy tending to the gardens during the springtime and shoveling the sidewalks during the winter.
The application process at Davie Manor is tough, despite their humble appearances. Many of the tenants have lives here for generations, and not many move out once they've settled in. But a recent renovation requirement from the city has pushed a lot of the older citizens to move out, making new space for the younger, more resilient crowd to find a new home downtown in the well-aged building.
If you've got an appointment, feel free to ring the bell and Mrs. Pennington will see you shortly. Otherwise, perhaps you're just passing by, and wondered about the building. That's OK too. Maybe you'll consider stopping by in a few weeks, as I hear they may be planning a local art and bake sale. They're looking to buy a new patio set up on the rooftop in a few months.

In saying all this, I hope you'll come by and visit soon! There is a lot of Vancouver to explore, and I am looking to instill a lot of very real, local downtown hot spots into this as well!
