Starting up a Tal'Dorei campaign
UPDATE: Recruitment is now closed. Thanks all who showed interest in the game.
This is an active storydriven game with daily progression. We're using tactical battle maps for combat scenes. By submitting an RTJ to this game, you agree to make a serious attempt at engagement where you try to check in on the game every day. I'm not asking players to devote their lives to the game, and real life always comes first, but if you're the kind of player who checks in maybe once every few days and doesn't show much engagement in the story, then we don't want you. If you're the kind of player who wants an active storydriven game with both plenty of encounters and roleplay opportunities, but you've failed to find a DM that can provide that experience, then look no further. I'm serious about this game and I'm investing a lot of time and effort into making it a memorable experience. If you still have doubts, you're welcome to request to lurk the game as well. Anyone who wants to lurk may do so.
So, why this recruitment? Everything has gone rather smoothly with my current group of players and I don't actually need this new player for the game to continue. The reason I'm opening up recruitment is because I think the game can benefit from a new player that could complement the current group. The current level is 2 (half-way to 3---I'm running with double experience gain from encounters), so that's where you'll start. I'm urging you to look at the classes of my current players and apply with a concept for a different class, preferably a melee tank or a healer (but every good concept is appreciated). After you have sent the RTJ, there may be a few days before you get a reply from me so that I can let the recruitment linger for a while to give more people the opportunity to find it and make a concept.
You will enter the game during an active story. If you're familiar with the Tal'Dorei setting, then that's a plus, but you neither have to be familiar with the setting nor be a veteran DnD player to think you have a shot at the game. The only thing I care about when I read your RTJ is your character concept, and whether or not I think you're a nice player to have in the group.
The current story is focused on the Parchwoods surrounding Whitestone, where the forest guardian Galdric has disappeared and the local wolf packs have grown aggressive. The Sentinels of the forest are divided, and it appears that two of them are at odds with each other, with both sides having their own stories about what is going on. As of me writing this, the players are exploring a frozen cave that is said to hold a white oak that is spiritually connected to the Parchwoods. How your character connects to this is to be determined.
