[5E] Adventurers Guild

You have come to the town of Phares on the outer reaches of civilization. The atmosphere is gloomy as you enter the disheveled town. People are hard at work here to make ends meet. You pass by dull looking establishments made from murky wood that was collected from the nearby forests. Most places have the same blackened rooftops. As you walk through the streets you notice that you easily stand out among the citizens here. Most of the people here seem to wear the same drab, brown clothing. Most people's eyes seem to be on you as you make your way through the oddly similar streets towards your destination.

You come to one of the largest buildings in the settlement. You were told this is where you were to go. There was sign outside the fenced off yard that caught your attention as you drew closer.

Well met, traveler. Welcome to the Adventurer's Guild

Adventurer's Guild is a community of play-by-post games all set in an unknown frontier world. We use the Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition rules. This game was inspired, mostly, by the west marches. Your characters are in an unknown land and have joined the local adventurer's guild. The only rule is you may not go back to where came from. Home is where people retire. The world and town you begin in will evolve with your characters and will be shaped by your choices.

Adventuer's guild is basically a number of play-by-post games all linked together by the guild. If you have only played D&D on tabletop with friends, imagine playing in a really big room with tables upon tables of other gaming groups. Each table has its own DM, its own set of players and PCs, and each is running through their own quests, playing their own adventures. The advantage is that we can help each other out when times are tough, give advice, and rescue each others games or players rather than let them die out.

Here, different DMs may run their own adventures with their own input on the world. News of other party's, rumours, and shared events will pop up from time to time, especially since you all share a centralized hub in the Adventurer's Guild. The Guild is where you accept your quests, get your rewards and refuel for the next quest. The guild has a ranking system based on the experience and feats of strength of your character.

PCs may travel from region to region and explore the world and meet other PCs. Think of it as like an MMORPG, only much slower and without the computer graphics, or like playing D&D in a room with multiple tables and you get up from your table with your PC and walk over to join another table with the same PC but different DM and players. I hope that this community will continue to grow and last many years to come with lots of fun in the mean time.

If the DM vanishes or retires then the DMs will endeavour to find a replacement to take-over, preferably continuing the current adventure before moving on to their own endeavor. Unlike independent games elsewhere, your character is not left in the lurch when a GM quits; they may continue their story and have a much longer life-span, and keep their levels and treasures.

There is no requirements to join as a player other than a willingness to play. Read of the character creation rules and other threads and then send in a RTJ.

If you would like to DM for us there will be a thread to offer your services.

While we are using 5th Edition rules, you do not need to go out and buy the books or anything. You can simply use the Free 5th Edition Rules. DMs and many players will help you with information/questions.

So if you have any other questions, ask in the form of a PM or in the OOC thread.

Have fun!
