3.5 low level game seeking new active players ready for adventure. You find yourself in Almengard, the capital of the Neseroc Empire; or at least what is left of it. To escape the encroaching ice age and the war with horned giants to the south you, like so many refugees, have come to Almengard. Your search for food, shelter and safety is not over once you reach the city gates. You will have to carve out a space for yourself in this city if you are going to survive.

Beneath the dying red sun settled among the snowy mountains of the Alderni sits the crown jewel of the Nesderoc Empire, stoically silent against the coming ice age. The once proud empire has fallen slowly but steadily to ice, cold, and encroaching wilderness. A war in the frozen wastes is fought in nearly year long darkness. Order and hope are all but lost in the countryside. Refugees pour into the Nesderoc's capitol city, Almengard, or sit outside her, waiting in the snow to be admitted so that their nightmare might be over.

But inside Almengard, there is no greater guarantee of safety.

She is called the City of the Setting sun because the dying red star is almost perpetually setting in the north, never hidden beneath the mountains of the Alderni or the horizon for more than six hours a day.

The Mauthrop, generally benevolent giants have been spreading, taking over greater and greater parts of the wilderness and countryside as it is abandoned. While they have not taken the land by force, they have been largely unwilling to return the lands they settle back to their original owners. They believe the coming ice age marks the beginning of their dominance over the continent.

The banshees cries can be heard piercing the endless dusk and twilight. Always known for their guile and cunning, they have been quick to take advantage of the crumbling empire. It cannot be too soon in their eyes, long have they been hunted by the empire.

Guarantees or no, you have come to Almengard as so many others.

Her city is beautiful, even among the snow and ice that constantly dusts and frosts her buildings. She has broad boulevards lined with the houses of merchants and nobles, and narrow alleyways and steps. The city is ancient, but well made from gray stone. The great stone buildings, spires and walls. The city is ruled by her young Empress, who has taken over after her mother's early passing. The bureaucracy is efficient, but temporarily paralyzed as the council debates what to do about the refugees that wait outside her city walls. They continue to run the city normally. The Chancellor has recently been the victim of a grizzly murder and all the refugees are suspect, panic infests the slums as many have turned to crime while other hide in fear of the guards and the criminals which threaten their lives.

Apostates and city criers preach the end of days, while the government attempts to maintain order, for panic of the people will surely be their ruin.
