The King in Crimson comes
King in Crimson is an M20 game which starts with players running established mages.
Already part of a cabal, they will have to lean on one another and the resources of their chantry to stem a rising tide of darkness which might be leading towards the prophesied return of an ancient evil from the misty recesses of humanity's ancient history. Set in a fictional version of Toronto, the chronicle catalogs the experiences of talented mages across a variety of associations. Players take on Arete 3 characters as they try to turn back threats ranging from mundane players going after their resources, conflicts with the local Garou over nodes/caerns, errant wraiths, the insidious threat of the Qlippothic and more!
I'm aiming to take a long view with this one, so the metaplot will unfold over a lengthy period. Much of what you'll do will have nothing to do with the overarching plot for long stretches of time. In the interim, you'll deal with your usual cabal stuff (based on how you define your group motivation and purpose), what politics there are at your chantry, that sort of thing.
I use a variety of house rules to the oWoD system and what-not. I'll note a couple of the more immediately pertinent bits right here.
This is an Arete 3 game. You will not be permitted to advance
beyond that without explicit ST permission, but neither will you have to pay to reach Arete 3 at chargen. So it's like having 8 extra freebies, specifically devoted to Arete. This is a 100 XP game, too.
That said, I am not looking for a sheet in an RTJ. Pop me a concept in a couple of lines, then we can get to chatting. If I think it'll work, we'll chat some more, progress to a sheet and get you going. If I don't, I'll be up front about it so I don't waste your time, which is also why I don't want you to invest in making a sheet right away.
