Darke City is like any other city on the east coast except it is run by The Devil. Under the human guise of city Mayor Lucien Hellstrom, Satan has taken root in a beautiful city in Maine and has opened it to all of his children to inhabit and live under his protection. Humans also inhabit the city and are for the most part, largely unaware that they are living in a literal Hell hole. They hold regular jobs, raise families and are completely naive to the fact that their neighbor could be a Succubus.
The city is extremely prosperous and unlike neighboring cities, has not suffered in the way they have. There is still money, funding, taxes are down and the quality of life is excellent.
Some attribute this to the cities main source of revenue, The Church.
In 2011 the city pushed to have prostitution legalized and despite heavy opposition they miraculously won. The Church was constructed a year later. It is a beautifully built neo-Gothic building in the center of town that caters to all forms of pleasure, for a "small" membership fee.
People come from everywhere to enjoy what The Church has to offer and in exchange they unknowingly end up giving away part of their souls in the process.
