Uthyr Pendragon is the last of his name: brother of two dead kings he has now taken his rightful place on the throne of Camelot, one kingdom of many in Albion. His wife, Igraine, has been stolen from him by the complications of child birth, which strikes down so many a woman. His son Arthur is just coming into manhood, and Uthyr is blisteringly aware of the risks-- magical and mundane-- which threaten his only heir. If Arthur dies childless the Pendragon name will die with him... this is a fate Uthyr cannot allow.
Outside the walls of his city the forests teem with magical beasts and unknown sorcerers, inside his court sly-eyed politicians and their spies wait around every corner. If Arthur is going to survive into adulthood he will need his brave knights, loyal friends... and perhaps just a little magic on his side.
Emrys, Merlinus, Ambrosius, Myrddin, Merlin-- the many names of the prophet, wizard and adviser to kings. He has been known for many things, but most legendary of all is his place at King Arthur's round table. The two of them changed the face of England-- at least in legend. But what about before the magic? Albion was said to have been a fractious land, fought over by many and ruled by none. This was the world in which Arthur and Merlin and their comrades grew up, where they met and became the leaders of legend. What was it like in those early days?
This game takes it's inspiration from the idea of BBC'S Merlin, and expands it to add in a bit more adherence to old English cannon.
