Keepers in the Night (Supernatural Series) ~Adult~
Stanley Upkats raised his hand in a friendly gesture as a car in the opposite lane raced past at a speed that would probably interest any of the local county deputies. He grinned as he continued on his way down the road. Usually, he wouldn't go running at night, but he'd been so busy at work he'd felt he'd not had the chance to really get his heart going. Tonight, he had the benefit of a nearly full moon to light the pavement and surrounding countryside. There was a very light fog caused by an incoming cold front that would cut the humidity nicely when it finally arrived. He stared down at the roadway as his feet cut a rhythmic cadence in the otherwise still night and he continued to plod along at a steady pace.
Stan glanced up, back down, and then snapped his head up as he frowned slightly. He could have swore he'd seen a person standing up ahead, but there was nobody. He dismissed it almost immediately and looked back at his feet as he continued down his path. He slowed down to a walk, and waved his arms in large arcs above his head as he took several deep breaths to fill his aching lungs with air. He'd made it to where he normally finished the first leg of his run. He would cool down, turn around, and run back home to go to bed. His eyes were drawn toward a flickering light in the far distance. It was one of the lamps that were spaced every half mile or so, and how he counted his miles actually. It flickered once or twice, and then died.
Stan continued to walk and stopped to regard the light next closer to him begin to do the same thing. He frowned with puzzlement as he watched it flicker, dim, brighten, and then ultimately fade out to blackness. He hummed thoughtfully and looked around the area. It wasn't like he relied on the lights, especially with the full moon shining bright overhead, but it was still a bit creepy. He noticed the low hanging fog was just kissing the thigh-high saw grass that was common in this area, which gave the entire area a surreal, old-time horror appearance. He jerked his head back toward an area he had just looked at, and again he could have swore he saw a person standing out in the field. Of course, there was nobody there. In his mind's eye, he saw a taller figure who was dressed in some manner of jacket, an old floppy hat, and had a slender protrusion angling upward from his left shoulder, which reminded him of a guitar slung or something similar.
Stanley nervously called out, "Hello!? Is anybody out there?" He listened and shook his head. It was time to get back to his run home, and definitely put this weird night behind him. He considered himself a brave man, but the whole thing was creeping him out just a little bit. He took one more deep breath, and blinked as his exhalation fogged like he was standing outside on some cold winter morning. "That's strange", he thought. He didn't feel cold, and yet each breath was immediately vaporizing as it hit the humid nighttime air. He shook his head, turned, and his screams were heard only by the night time animals and insects.
Hello there. I'm a fan of the Supernatural series from the tv. I like ghost stories and the unexplained, and this genre fits nicely into that. I am a relatively new GM who can honestly admit that I am not good at running games for a number of people. What I would like is for somebody who is interested in a Supernatural game to come try mine out as a solo adventure.
I'm fairly active as an rpol writer. I check in just about daily, and tend to write long posts at least once a day (excluding weekends, where my time is spotty with family commitments). If this is interesting to you, please feel free to provide me with an RTJ. While I don't have anything specific to access in regard to that, I think we've all been around long enough to know what should be supplied. A concept, some thoughts regarding motivations, history... anything else that might pique my interest as much as begin to flesh out what you're bringing to the table as it were.
