On the coast of South Carolina the quiet town of Sunteset sits. It is a quaint and peaceful city sitting on the shore and nestled into the woods, seemingly apart from the hustle and bustle of the bigger cities of the state. It is a rare gem, some would say, that seems a town out of time where people still say hello when they pass each other in the streets and almost everybody knows each other. It is not without it's more modern comforts though, as restaurants, storefronts, bars and apartment buildings line the coast and keep both the citizens of the city and tourists looking for an out of the way spot to relax entertained. For Sunteset is a lovely place to behold, the sandy shores twinkling in the sunlight during the summer and the trees of the woods ablaze with color as the leaves change during the fall. Indeed, Sunteset is a peaceful and beautiful place to live and visit.
Or so it seems. For there is something else lurking there beneath the surface. A conflict between the two wealthy and prominent families that, between them, own the many businesses and homes that make up the town and the land they sit on. And those two families have been, since before any member of the family still alive today can remember, engaged in conflict. For, as anybody who has had a taste of wealth and power can say, the desire for more is powerful driving force towards war. And it is a war the two families, the Millers and the Smiths, engage in. A quiet, almost civil war that rarely spills out to mar the face of the peaceful and picturesque town, but a war nonetheless.
The Millers and the Smiths, and the branch families that have resulted from marriages or business dealings, battle each other with words and influence as well as fists and violence. They wage their quiet war with a veneer of Southern hospitality and genteel manner because that's how it's always been. And, yet, one can never say when one or the other will reach further for more than they can hold. When greed for power and wealth will tip the scales on the equilibrium the families find themselves in now. Only time, and the combatants involved in this hidden war, can say.
Who are you in the town of Sunteset? Are you a member of one of the Smiths or the Millers, continuing a legacy of tension and conflict that has been going on since the time of your forefathers? Are you a member of a branch family who has married into the clan and trying to make your mark? Are you a rare outsider seeking to try and make inroads into a potentially profitable situation? Or are you just an average citizen of Sunteset, living your life in the bright and quiet streets of the city while the undercurrent of tension and threat of conflict runs beneath and around you?
Whatever happens to be the case, welcome to Sunteset, the quiet and beautiful hidden gem of South Carolina! Welcome...and good luck.

This is a free-form game that has a soft story plot, enough to hopefully allow players to develop their own, but with enough structure to keep it pointed one way.
This is adult, because to run a city, you might have to bend some rules.
A special thank you to Andrew Smith, who helped write to intro.
