Revised Recon: Mud And Blood
During the Vietnam war, US and South Vietnamese forces frequently found themselves under attack from the Viet Cong. The Viet Cong were skilled in guerrilla warfare, and aided the North Vietnamese Army (NVA) in their quest to unify Vietnam. US forces needed a specialized recon unit that would be capable of handling the Viet Cong threat, and even aid in major battles. They needed to be skilled, and capable of operating behind enemy lines. The 101st Airborne Division founded the first LRRP (pronounced Lurp) unit in December of 1965. Short for Long-Range Reconnaissance Patrol, LRRPs were small teams that conducted ambushes, patrols, and raids on both the Viet Cong and NVA. The LRRP teams were disbanded in February of 1969, when they were reformed into the 75th Infantry Regiment (later known as the 75th Rangers). Although they were in existence for a short time, LRRP teams conducted more than 23,000 missions and were believed to have killed 400 hostiles for every friendly casualty.
This game will be using the Revised Recon rules. They are somewhat hard to find, but are easy to learn. I have no problems transcribing large portions of the rule book to help people play the game.
