More realistic and nitty/gritty zombie game, long term.
An ADULT game (because frankly I'd prefer adult players, and it allows us freedom with the description of scenes/blood/death/etc) that is searching for new players. I'm taking an old genre (zombies, at the start of an outbreak) and adding a new spin to it.
The basic premise is this: You're all normal, everyday people (teachers, housewives, cops, gardeners, slackers with a college degree, etc) and an outbreak occurs. We're going to be roleplaying our way through the shock of the initial outbreak, the fear/worry/uncertainty of the time just after that, and what exactly your characters do to survive, at least initially. I really enjoy the writing of a great story with my players, and so while it IS a GM driven game/world, I will gladly allow players freedom/flexibility with what they do/where they go.
The game WILL be nitty/gritty, and gruesome. I always enjoy the sorts of stories where heroes and villains all have a chance to grow/change, but the world is unforgiving. If you are a housewife early on in the game, running around with a rolling pin: don't charge in a berserker fury into 12 zombies alone, or it might not end well for you. Some of the game mechanics will be gruesome and harsh as well, but this leads me to my next point:
Game mechanics will be using a HIDDEN system. No, you won't be completely in the dark as to what your character can do, what they're good at, etc. but in the interest of making it more realistic, and "oh crap, can I survive this?" I'm going to be HIDING character sheets after the initial get-go, and then using hidden numbers to roll for actions. The hopes here is that this will allow players who hate rules systems (free-formers) to enjoy the game, and participate, as well as allowing those more used to rules (dnd players, etc) to enjoy the game as well. There IS a complexity and depth to the game, but if you don't want to pay attention to it and you'd rather just write a compelling story, then that's perfectly fine.
All in all, if you're interested in a good, lasting game based around a viral outbreak that turns people into cannibals, feel free to send a request to join.
