War Among Dreams
The Gods did battle, once, not so long ago.
They waged war across the realms of mortal men, laying waste to all they touched in the pursuit of domination over their fellows, spurred on by ambition, greed, reasoning or simple hate for their compatriots. Each pantheon sought power over the others. They walked across the many realms, flinging magics not meant for mortal earth to bear witness to, and in the end, snuffed the light from many of the worlds, scoured the life that could have been.
All for the sake of ruling the Dream.
Yet, after millenniums of infighting among them, they began to notice. Though they did not understand at first, the more they fought, the weaker they had become. For Gods need faith, faith that came from mortal hearts and mortal souls, and throughout their war, only a few realms remained with mortals that could offer their belief. Finally, the Gods put aside their weapons and their magics and came together, at the heart of the Dream, and sought a solution. Some say the bickering and fighting at this gathering was worse by far than anything that occurred in the Divine War. But in the end, an accord was reached, a treaty drawn up, and the Four Great Divinities signed.
The Gods would wage war with each other no more, so long as mortals should be capable of doing so for them. Each Pantheon was to govern one of the realms that remained, to call it their own, and each realm would wage war against the others, seeking to dominate the realms and claim the Dream for themselves. Each of the Great Divinities would grant a single mortal their power, imbue them with strength and magics, to be their champion.
The Gods did battle, not so long ago.
Now Mortals do it for them.
All for the sake of a Dream.
Yet now, something else stirs, seeking to devour all and consume the Dream, ending all things for eternity...

Searching for Players, though I suppose it really needn't be said.
Specifically, players for the Four Incarnations of the Divine, and an assembly of any other that would support them in their battles with each other and the silent threat that only just now wakes from its slumber.
