Love and Power in the Land of Angels ~ Kushielverse

~"Love As Thou Wilt"~

These were the words of Bless Elua, and they are his one Precept to his decedents. A commandment which is not as simple as it seems.

Before Elua Terre D'Ange had no name, but Bless Elua and his Angelic Companions came here after years of wandering. They took provinces of this land for their own, and they lay amongst the inhabitants. Elua and Cassile were the exceptions, for Elua took no province and Cassile remained abstinent. In time their progeny became known as the D'Angelines, and they are a surpassingly beautiful people.

Each of Elua's Companions gave the D'Angelines something more than their angelic aesthetics. Azza took the province Azzalle and taught the D'Angelines about the stars and navigation. Anael took the province of L'Agnace and taught the D'Angelines about hunting, farming and animal husbandry. Camael taught the province of Camlach about warcraft. Eisheth took the province of Eisande and taught the d'Angelines about art and healing. Naamah took the province Namarre, and she taught the D'Angelines about sexuality. The Servants of Naamah, or are courtesans highly trained in Naamah's arts, as well as math and histories so their education might be equal to the lords and ladies they serve and so find themselves upon a more equal footing.

After 60 years Elua and His Companions left this world for the Terre D'Ange Which Lies Beyond, and they left behind a young and powerful nation. A nation where rape is not only a crime, it is heresy. A nation built upon the precept to "Love as Thou Wilt,"

But can such a kingdom of heaven exist upon the mortal world.

Our story takes place over 200 years after Elua and his companions left this world, and the young nation will face its greatest trial.

This game is rated Adult as graphic depictions of violence and sex are common.

The Age of House Courcel ~ (ADULT - Kushielverse)

In the City of Elua, the capital of Terre D'Ange, the land of angels, there is political turmoil brewing. The King of Terre D'Ange, Charles de la Courcel, Charles of House Courcel, has left the succession of the throne uncertain. His only legitimate child, a young woman, is considered by many to been too young and unseasoned to rule. His illegitimate children are either too ambitious or too lazy. His nephew, his distant cousin's son, has all the outward appearances of a great ruler, but is he perhaps less capable than he seems?

All the while the Ducs and Duchesses of the Provinces see the questionable succession of an aging king as an opportunity to advance the position of their house, either by attempting to align their house with one of the heirs apparent or by shifting political power away from the capital into the hands of the Provinces.

******

The citizens of Terre D'Ange are descendants of the demi-god Blessed Elua and his Angelic Companions, who left the One God for mortal happiness. Central to their society is Blessed Elua's one Precept "Love as Thou Wilt." Where all the citizens of Terre D'Ange possess an other worldly beauty, even the men. Naamah, the angelic goddess of love, is revered by the use of Servants of Naamah, or Sacred Coutesans, who are elite users of Naamah's arts, and are highly revered in their society.

This game looks for skilled writers, interested in writing detailed character, in a beautiful fantasy world, with a strong setting focus on sex, love, and power, and how those things come into conflict.

What is the Kushielverse?

The Kushielverse is based on the Universe created in the novels of Jacqueline Carey. The novels follow the story of a Courtesan/spy in a historical fantasy or alternate history (Terre d'Ange) society that follows a demi-god, Elua, whose precept is "Love as thou wilt". The map of Terre d'Ange, the "Land of the Angels," bears a striking resemblance to that of France.

As with all "something-verse" games, knowledge of the setting will not go a miss, but it is not required to fully enjoy the game. In fact, many readers started off playing games like this one (as I did). And Jacqueline Carey is somewhat unique in that she actively encourages these games and freely answers questions from her fans.
