The Sapphire Lounge: Last Call for New Characters

Update: With 6 active writers (3 new), we are looking for 1-2 more to round off the team.

---------------------------------------

The Sapphire Lounge

Near the corner of First and Grand, wedged snugly between gleaming skyscrapers of steel and glass, a two-story brownstone serves as a DMZ for Gods, Demons, and even corporate lawyers. Welcome to The Sapphire Lounge, the seediest little strip joint west of the Mississippi, here the dancers are always friendly and the gate to hell sometimes swings both ways. It is in this dimly lit establishment that the fate of the universe shifts over stale beer and over-salted peanuts, and eldritch problems of a more delicate nature may be resolved discretely.

At least, that’s what it says on the tacky tri-fold brochure.

Twenty-five years ago, the world was brought to its knees by the emergence of a pair of Chaos Lords, embodying the aspects of Love and Light. War was waged across the realms, led by a desperate coalition of Gods and Demons. In the end, the Lord of Light was banished, and an uneasy truce was brokered upon the sacrifices of mortal men. A seal was formed over the rift to the Chaos Realms, and Nidd, the proprietor of The Sapphire Lounge, tasked with eternal vigilance over the Realm Seal.

Time passes, the Chaos Lords stir again. The old guard has fallen, and the Gods once again look upon mortal men for saviors in their time of need. Welcome to The Sapphire Lounge, help wanted. Employees drink for free.

---------------------------------------

Take 2 parts American gods, 1 part Hellblazer, and add a dash of Fables. Shake well and serve cold.

This is a plot and character-arc driven free-form game. Behind the scenes collaboration between the GM and writers is quite common to give the writing a cohesive, narrative style. The GM will provide the broad strokes of the plot and direction and reserve the right to veto any worldbreaking ideas. Otherwise, we work on equal terms, creating lore, storylines, and characters as needed to create a living, vibrant world. We are always looking for self-motivated and mature writers to become a part of the team. If you are interested in the setting and would like to see if your character idea fits, feel free to send us a message in game.

The Sapphire Lounge: In Search of New Writers

In reply to Kingfisher (msg # 1):

Pardon me if i'm wrong, but you want someone to "act" as one of the characters? I apologize if i'm wrong or if the position is taken, but i'd be happy to play the part of/write for Sheena Arynn.

Thanks!

The Sapphire Lounge: In Search of New Writers

In reply to CrassGrass (msg # 7):

You're quite correct. You would act/play as one of the characters, much in the same way you play a character in most RPGs. Unfortunately, the position for Arynn has been taken. We've been working with a writer for awhile to test her fit and has accepted her on a trial basis.

If you would be interested in any of the other characters or if you'd like to follow along, I'd be happy to add you as a lurker. Opportunities for writers to create brand new characters in this game world will come along in the future as well.  Either way, thank you for your interest!

The Sapphire Lounge: In Search of New Writers

The game is now open to new characters, both fixers and those not immediately affiliated with the lounge. We are always looking for self-motivated and mature writers to become a part of the team. We've just had the fortune of accepting 3 very talented writers who are just now starting their character arcs.  This would be the ideal time for anyone interested in the setting or collaborative story-telling in general to join. If you are interested and would like to see if your character idea fits, feel free to send us a message in game.

The Story Thus Far:

  • Prologue: Please Allow Me To Introduce Myself - Concluded
The year is 2016. After a long period of silence, the Lounge is again hiring new talent to fill its roster of fixers. An introduction to our heroes as they are drawn into the folds of the supernatural and occult.
  1. You Don't Know Jack - Wrapping Up
Azida, Wilde, and Arynn go to London to solve a series of cult-targeted killings. Gets involved in the battle between Jack the Ripper and the Knights Templar. Wherein Arynn and Azida learn something of their past, and Wilde becomes an agent of the Templars.
  2. A Washing of Hands - Ongoing
Demarchis and Duffaut are sent to find the Repentant Prefect. Demarchis learns of her father's past adventures.  Duffaut is haunted by his past suicide attempt.
  3. The Case of the Matchstick Girl - Concluded
A casual finding in the lounge brings Heather to mind of her first true encounter with the supernatural. Wherein we uncover answers and questions alike regarding Heather's childhood, present, and future.
  4. Four Sheets to the Wind - New!
Recently released for manslaughter, Jormand Rokkr is recruited to the Lounge for a mission uniquely suited to his talents. The search for redemption, a sacred treasure, and a dry pack of smokes.
  5. Ring Them Bells - New!
A politician, a journalist, and a Tengu walk into a bar. Wherein Robyn gets a taste of the supernatural and Abraham comes to terms with his own mortality.
