It all began in 2015 when Russian scientists tried formulating a cure for the lastest strain on swine flu. Due to the high infection rate many big companies and businesses funded their research in hope of finding a cure. Many of the tests and research was unethical, even playing around with human life and organs.
By 2025, 10 years after their first initial research, they did it. Or so they thought... In fact the vaccine did the opposite to killing the virus and bacteria, it mutated it. Behold not knowing this many with the initial swine flue were treated with a new mutated version. Within 24hours the health would deteriate and a thick black fluid would take over that of the blood, leaving the veins black. Nervous twitching started to take over and last but not least lesions started to form on the arms, legs and face.
However, they were far from death. These infected people began to turn on those who did not have the virus. They only spared their own kind and the terminally ill. Any sense of rational thought was diminished, the humanity behind their eyes gone.
Within months Governments were scarce and falling apart, less than a million people across the world not infected and over half the worlds population a crazy mass of killing machines.
Those who survived banded together..
The year is 2030, five years after the mutated outbreak. The world, countries and city's as we know it are gone. Once populated areas desolate, over growing vegetation hide those that are infected and waiting. Many buildings and landmarks going into derelict state.
Earth is no longer for those who want to thrive, but those who want to survive...
Welcome to Into the Wilderness. A game of free form survival with GM assistance and simple dice rolls.
In NewYork a group of 15+ survivors are trying to make it through each day. All web and telephone lines are down. The only thing they have are generators that supply hot water, electricity and some radio power. Their protection from the outside world is a corregated metal wall, standing about 20 feet tall, the wall surrounds Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan. It holds 1,500 beds and several speciality sections in which there are several operating tables.
We want you the players to have as much or as little control over what your character does, what they are and their background. It is up to you to survive in this new Earth, inside the hospital. There will be weekly and daily trips outside the hospital in order to collect, survivors, food & water supplies, gun and ammo supplies and lastly anything that the hospital may need.
There may even be times at which other groups may try to take over the hospital, once was crime lords, druggies and even those who just feel the need for power now there is no government.
