4E D&D Fast Dungeon-Crawl

Do you want some no-frills dungeon-crawling? Did you never get a chance to play a mid- to high-level character in 4th-edition D&D, because it took too long?

This game is going through the scenarios in the Dungeon Delve book, one at a time, in order. As soon as a party finishes a scenario, they immediately gain a level, swap out gear as needed, then jump into the next scenario.

It's all by-the-book, but the outcome won't be guaranteed. The point is fast-paced, tactical play focused on solving problems and defeating enemies without fuss.

If I get enough players, I'll even make it an arena. Players will have the option of owning multiple characters at various levels, and compete with everyone else in various ways (like which team can finish a scenario the fastest).

Deep roleplaying is strictly optional, but will probably happen incidentally. Just like how it used to be — when the whole point of the game was the dungeon and treasure.

Re: 4E D&D Fast Dungeon-Crawl

The arena is about to get its first batch of adventurers, and things are progressing nicely.

Because my initial ad got more than five players, I decided to open it up as an arena-style competition. Players are initially allowed two characters, and characters of a common level can adventure together -- meaning a group is always going to be five characters of the same level -- but they don't have to stick together afterward.

Later on, I'll be coming up with criteria to allow for more characters per player, and possibly including a sort of achievement or trophy system with minor benefits.

This is primarily a tactical game, encouraging character-builds you may have avoided in the past. There are spots for roleplaying, and it's bound to happen during an adventure... but this is a competitive game with a focus on the rules, strategy, and teamwork.

The door will stay open for new players for the foreseeable future. Come on in, make a character or two, roll some dice. Maybe have a character or two die here and there. Or get a fantastic kill-streak, or a perfectly timed natural 20. Who knows?

Re: 4E D&D Fast Dungeon-Crawl

Amazing how long ago this started. Well, there was a hiccup, but the game got a reboot last year and things are moving along fine. The party's now 6th level and ready to jump into their next three-part dungeon. (It's no longer running on multiple teams with simultaneous dungeons -- now it's just one group, trying to speed their way through.)

Except that a player has quit responding, leaving the group shy one member. They're willing to go on ahead, but having that fifth person along would ensure they succeed.

So, I need someone who can bring in a 6th-level 4E character ASAP. The delve is ready, and everyone else is ready to go. Character-creation is pretty much by-the-book (with only a couple small house-rules). The group has one of every role, so you can bring in whatever you want to play.

And as always, I welcome lurkers. They get first dibs if an opening arises.
