Well for me personally its your at whim change to your own rules.
First its ' no humans' then its 'only elves, dwarves, halfings or gnomes'
With a DM laying down such ultimatums with no warning, one cannot really get into a game. for why get invested into something when at any poin the MD will just think to himself " I do not like that anymore so im going to ban it, or change it'
The premise of the game is great. But when I was told "Also, something not in the RTJ is that I have decided to go with all non human type characters." and as like ok how about a kobold your answer was "I would be interested though not a kobold."
I was fine with my rogue/beguiler/unseenseer concept being uneccasary as there was already a scout/stealth focused guy in the group. but when I came with a non human concept a nice welcoming 'nope too no human enough' is basically what I got. especially when your edited RTJ says "Also, going with all NON HUMAN races."
