Freedom City, heroes needed! [M&M 2nd ed]

Freedom City, the city of heroes!

Soon to have two more teams!

One, a new group of superheroes taking over the day to day of Freedom's defense while the Freedom League looks to larger conflicts (PL 10)

The other, a new team of young heroes at Duncan Summers' Claremont Academy (PL 8)!

If you like the setting, or always wanted to play in a world full of heroes, now's a chance to do it! If you don't know the setting? Come on down anyways!

Edit:

Looking for a mystical character for the Claremont Academy!

Looking for more people for the Iron Age team Nevermore!

Looking for more police officers for the super-cop STAR Squad!

Apply within!

Re: Freedom City, heroes needed! [M&M 2nd ed]

Both those teams have been filled, thank you everyone!

But all is not lost! We are looking for concepts for a pl 8 group set in the Iron Age by the name of Nevermore! Now of course this group will not be starting immediately, I need to see to the current groups, but drop us a line if you're interested (key point: your character most likely won't survive this group)

"In “mainstream” Freedom City history, Duncan Summers, the Raven, retired following his final defeat of Dr. Sin in 1972, never to take up the cowl again. However, it’s not difficult to imagine the former dark-clad vigilante, faced with crime and corruption growing in Freedom City, deciding to do something about it. In this campaign framework, he does. The Raven returns to become the mysterious coordinator and leader of “Nevermore,” a group of vigilante heroes devoted to saving Freedom City whether it wants it or not. Backed by Summers’s fortune and considerable experience, Nevermore can be even better organized than FORCE Ops. They’re also less violent in their approach, at least at first. Duncan Summers still holds to the ethics and mores of an earlier age, and expects his agents to do the same."

Re: Freedom City, heroes needed! [M&M 2nd ed]

Group 3, the Iron Age group, is in need of someone to round out the five guys presently:

A knife wielder
A brick powerhouse
A teleporting gun wielder
Two demonic warlocks, one darkness, one fire

If you've got an idea that compliments these, please shout me a PM

Also, Group 1, the Claremont Academy group, recently lost their mystic character, so anyone who has ideas for that is welcome to shoot me an RTJ.

And of course, even if you don't fit those criteria, if you've got an amazing idea, please RTJ

Re: Freedom City, heroes needed! [M&M 2nd ed]

quote:
PROJECT FREEDOM
Harriet Wainwright’s program to rehabilitate super-criminals (see page 74) can form the basis for an adventure or even an entire campaign, with the players running super-convicts offered a chance to work off their sentences doing public service. The convicts might agree for the reduced sentence and greater personal freedom, only to discover they like helping people. Alternatively, they might figure out a way to turn the program to their advantage. Both motivations are likely, causing some interesting conflicts within the group. The super-criminals have to overcome everyone’s suspicion and mistrust and the stigma of their past crimes. There are also more than a few fellow criminals who’d consider them “sellouts” for working for the authorities.

That's right, come one and all, give me your ideas for super-villains being rehabilitated for the greater good!

So far we have a psychic thief, a science genius speedster and an immortal mystic (with an archer or gadget user in the works!) so if anyone has . . . something to add there I guess. That would be great. A brick or paragon or the like might be nice

As always, working to connect with the setting is a bonus

Edit: positions filled extremely fast. Thank you everyone

Re: Freedom City, heroes needed! [M&M 2nd ed]

New group! Looking for cops!

quote:
The heroes are police officers, members of Freedom City’s STAR Squad. They’re the police who deal with super-powered criminals before and after the heroes get there. They’re also the ones who have to find ways to handle the supercriminals when the heroes don’t show up at all. This framework can be equal parts cop-drama and comic book. Even with their equipment, the STAR Squad finds itself outclassed by most super-villains in terms of power level.

They need to use teamwork, tactics, and clever thinking to take down their opponents, which can provide a real challenge to players used to having the powers of superheroes at their command! The STAR Squad cops also have to deal with interdepartmental and city politics, public opinion, and near-constant criticism of their work. This framework offers a lot of opportunities for roleplaying and developing characters, but it might not be of interest to players looking to play traditional superheroes in M&M rather than normal cops.

Now a change. I've run no powers groups before in powered games, never worked out, so instead we're looking at a PL 6, 105pp group of super-cops. The department's moved it's superhumans to one department! Sacrificing points to building a believable police (see scientist, fire fighter, government agent, police officer, swat officer, reporter, soldier for useful stats depending on if police is your first job, etc) will look good for you.

Current roster:
-sniper with wind/air powers
-swordfighter from a fantasy world
-psychic reader
-speedster scientist

Re: Freedom City, heroes needed! [M&M 2nd ed]

Had some player attrition, looking for one or two more students for the Claremont

Need one more hero for Group 3 (Iron Age, Nevermore)

Slots have opened for Group 4 (Project Freedom), a couple at least

Now recruiting for Freedom Knights and Pacific Patrol

FREEDOM KNIGHTS (Modern, PL 9)
Rather than the four-color heroics of the Freedom League, this framework sets the heroes up as street-level crime-fighters in Southside, Lincoln, Greenbank, or the other most crime-ridden areas of Freedom City. They can fight alongside heroes like Foreshadow and the Raven and they might go up against—or team up with—vigilantes like the Silencer.

You can set a Freedom Knights series in the present-day, with the heroes tackling the sort of crime beneath the notice of the Freedom League, with their embassies and satellite headquarters. The heroes may have some support from people like Police Commissioner Barbara Kane, but others, including STAR Squad commander Maddicks, think they’re as dangerous as the criminals they go after, many of whom end up in Providence Asylum.

Pacific Patrol (Golden Age, PL varies)
The Allies of Freedom don’t operate in the Pacific Theatre until after V-E Day, and the Liberty League only ventures to the front on rare occasions, so there’s room for a team of heroes operating in the Pacific Theatre after Pearl Harbor. They can thwart Japanese saboteurs and sneakattacks, aid Allied soldiers, free prisoner-of-war camps, and perform similar missions. They can also encounter strange lost islands, including places like Kaiju Island (see Chapter 5 of Freedom City). Also, if anyone has a better name than that one, I'm all ears

PL and points for Pacific Patrol
PL 8= 165pp
PL 9= 150pp
PL 10= 135pp

The freedom knights sound fun but I have no knowledge of the system.

Re: Freedom City, heroes needed! [M&M 2nd ed]

Only have four members for the Pacific Patrol thus far:

The lovely goddess Pacifica!
The potent volcanic Kekepania!
Product of modern miracle science, Bastion!
and tough as nails two-fisted brawler the Pugilist!

Plenty of room still, looking forward to hearing from people!
