Competitive Realm Management Game

Using Eden Studios' Fields of Blood rules for running a fantasy realm-management game, very slightly modified. If you don't have the rules, don't worry - I'll make the relevant information available to players. It is a fairly simple but comprehensive set of rules that runs quickly and smoothly. This is a strictly strategy game, with any negotiations conducted via in-game messaging.

A few short years ago a great cataclysm fell from the sky, demolishing the ancient homeland of numerous races. Some, guided by dreams, prepared for the Final Days by building colony ships and sailing into unknown waters towards an unknown future. Eventually, each of these races landed on the shores of a new, unspoiled land - and each prepared in their own way for the difficult times ahead. Both ancient lineages and ancient alliances have no bearing in this new land, anad the old racial grudges may have been forgotten in the horror of the Final Days. What will you do in this new Eden? Who will be allies, or enemies?

quote:
Fields of Blood allows players to take on the role of regents (rulers) of realms. They can raise taxes, order the formation of armies, construct roads, negotiate with ally or enemy nations, and so on.  Each realm consists of provinces, and each province, in turn, a population center that can range in size from tiny hamlet to vast, walled metropolises.  Provinces may also contain fortifications, resource gathering improvements, and so on. A province consists of a single 12-mile hex on the campaign map.  Realm-level play runs in terms of weeks and seasons. Most activity occurs on the seasonal scale; only a few activities are fine-grained enough so as to require weekly activity.  Each season the regent collects the realm's wealth and then distributes it as he or she sees fit. Regents can choose to spend it on civic improvements such as mines or irrigation, or on fortifications, or raising troops. They also command armies of the realm to do their bidding.

Re: Competitive Realm Management Game

Need 1 more player to take over an Elven realm:

Celebeithelien (Elf; Civilized/Noble) - The Land of silver springs is well known for the beauty of its people and its cities. It is a center of commerce, preferring to settle disputes economically or though diplomacy rather than through force of arms. The queen Ar Ariniel is widely famed for her calm disposition and fair-mindedness, and for inspiring great loyalty in her subjects.

Re: Competitive Realm Management Game

I'm new to RPOL and I've never played Fields of Blood, but I see you used to run a Birthright game; is it similar enough?

In reply to xanthfan (msg # 12):

Yes, but much simpler to play and to run.

I got the spot filled though - I'll post again next time there's an opening.
