I am going to be running my first 5e game from the GM side.  I am quite excited to play in the new system and see what everything is all about.

Now about the game!  I have in mind a group of like-minded individuals that are committed to keeping the world's peace.  They are known as Tinkers.  To most, the Tinkers are a fable, a myth really.  They are said to show up only when things are at their absolute darkest.  A Tinker's arrival is said to be an omen of doom, and a group of them arriving in a place often results in a mass exodus from the Tinkers' destination.

So, I'm looking for a group of players to take on the role of being Tinkers.  You'll start as initiates, gain experience, and eventually be responsible for dealing with the darkest of dark things.  The world is a bright place for most people.  When darkness intrudes upon that existence, it's the Tinkers' job to throw back the darkness from where it came.

This is a game focused on the supernatural, walking the grey line between normalcy and the mythic, and dealing with the intrigue of powerful beings whose intentions are nearly impossible to predict.  Very often, your targets will be much more powerful than you or have unpredictable powers.  It is quite likely that someone will make the ultimate sacrifice on each mission that your group undertakes.

I'm looking for two replacements for this game as two people have unfortunately dropped off the face of the planet.

First, here's some more information about the game.  I hesitate to call this a low magic game, since it's not, but magic is very misunderstood and outright feared by commoners.  This is a gritty kind of game with some heart.  In some ways, it's inspired by the Dresden Files, in other ways it's inspired by the Sword of Truth, and in yet more ways its influenced by The Obsidian Mountain trilogy.  Essentially, you are to take on the role of a Tinker.  A Tinker is someone that stands outside the normal step of the world and seeks to intervene when darkness seeks to intrude into the realm of light.  Tinkers exist in that little grey area between the two, but they are ultimately servants of light.  They are those who have been exposed to darkness, and they now seek to keep the darkness from intruding into the lives of others.

In this vein, I've given it an Adult rating.  This is NOT an excuse for gratuitous sex scenes to be roleplayed, nor is it an excuse to pour out unending obscenity.  I in fact request a fade to black or an avoidance of these things.  The Adult rating is so that I'm free to write and explore various other situations with moral ambiguity or detail stories with certain elements that are not often explored in a basic setting.  The Adult rating and the Mature rating are a little vague to me on what separates them, so I have chosen to mark this as Adult so that I don't accidentally cross a line that I wasn't aware was there.  This game is intended to put players in places with temptations and where standing fast against them isn't easy.  Standing firm is just as liable to get you killed as looking the other way in order to lay low is.  Anyway, I want this to be clear from the outset that the Adult rating is not an excuse or a justification for anything.  It's a measured choice in order to help facilitate the tone and vision I have for this game's idea.

On to the replacements!  You can either take on one of the two characters that have been left behind or you can submit something of your own.  I can provide more information as requested and there is more information in the Notice Threads inside the game., but here is a summary of the two characters that I need to replace.

Oak Leafblade: High Elf Fighter - Eldritch Knight intended path with Two-Handed Weapons.  Oak's journey and exposure to darkness is just beginning.  It's been mere weeks since he watched a child transformed into a beast and devour its own family.  He has been confronted about his methods by someone who claims to be a Tinker and has been lead off to face a part of the darkness he now knows exists.

Tara: Human Rogue - No path specified as yet.  Tara grew up on the streets in hometown and was well on her way starting her own gang until she and everyone else was betrayed by good intentions.  Someone invited in a vampire in return for a promise that was twisted until it's intended purpose was destroyed.  A brave soul who would turn out to be a Tinker paired up with Tara to save as many souls as they could, and now Tara has accepted an opportunity to see if she has what it takes to continue on the path of a hero.
