January 15th, 1925, 10 a.m.
The bell over the door rings and snow blows into the shop as the door opens. A massive snow storm has hit New York, its said to be a 100 year storm.
"Telegram." The young man in the uniform of a telegram service calls out. He stomps his snow covered feet and removes his hat.
"Telegram for a....." He reaches into his coat and produces a small envelope.
You take the telegram, reading it quickly.
"Thank you young man." Handing the boy a nickle tip and then after consideration you reach into your coin purse taking a second nickle and placing it into the boys hand.
"Thank you......." He tightens his scarf and replaces his hat before disappearing back into the snow covered streets of Manhattan.
It would be good to see his friend Jackson. They where all looking forward to his return....to hear about Jako's newest project....
But since that fateful telegram, Jackson had been found dead in his hotel room, sacrificed to some dark god. A cult hidden in New York had been discovered and this cult stretched it appears around the globe.
But who could they turn to? Who would believe them? Were they the only people standing in the way of the worlds complete deconstruction? Surely not. Surely there were others who would help.
I am seeking only one or two additional experienced and mature roleplayers to play through the award winning Call of Cthulhu investigation - The Masks of Nyarlethotep. This is not a game for players who have thin skin. This will be a game where the enemy is vicious and evil and uncompromising. We will focus primarily on the cosmic horror the characters face rather than the strategy and planning.
I am looking for a classic group of characters - archaeologists, historians and professors. The focus of the game will be to solve the problems without violence and to avoid direct conflicts much like how HP Lovecraft's heros dealt with their foes. Brains will be valued over brawn.
This will be a game where the characters will read dark tomes, gain dark knowledge and face evil with their wits, brains and dark knowledge of their own rather than guns and dynamite.
I want to be very clear, I want mature players who care more about storytelling than they do combat. There will be combat just like in any game but usually this will not go well for the characters. I am looking, as I said, for experienced players and I will even accept people who have run and played the specific investigation. I want roleplayers not gamers. The mechanics of the game will be invisible wherever possible.
If you want a true roleplay challenge, this is the game for you.
Requirements - mature, experience adults who can make a single 50 word or less post every day. Who are willing to play in a troupe style game (more than one PC) and willing to occasionally roleplay interesting NPCs. If you can meet this requirement I want you in my game. If not, go find something else and please dont waste our time.
