After the Third Network Crisis rebooted nearly every computer in the world, eventually investigations once again pointed to CC Corp. However, no evidence could be obtained to file any charges. "The World" R:2 continued for a short time, but eventually closed it's doors. Two years later, CC Corp opened their doors once again, this time with "The World" R:X. However, the game proved to be unpopular and didn't perform nearly as well as R:2, which had itself under-performed compared to the original. It was taken down only a few months after launch.
The company began suffering heavily in the stock market. It's other projects were doing well enough to keep the company afloat, but that wouldn't last forever with the losses they were taking. There was rumor of major shuffling of staff and a new, popular director was brought on-board, famous for his successes, though not well known publicly.
In just a year, CC Corp released their newest revision and their last hope: "The World" R:3, Infinite Horizons. It was touted to be both a return to the roots of the original, but also an evolutionary step forward. So far, their efforts seem to not have been in vain. In the three months since it's release, "The World" R:3 has exceeded expectations. Numbers are higher than even the original with no reports of strange occurrences such as comas or Doll Syndrome. As they say, "All is right with 'The World'"...
Or is it? Could "The World" really have had such a miraculous recovery, or are events stirring beneath the surface?
