UP-DATE: 3/11/2015 - Due to an unfortunate R/L issue, 1 of my Players has had to drop out, so I am looking for someone who can post reliably 4 times per week.
I am looking for someone to take over the former Player's Character.
The PC is a minotaur sailor fighter, with a slightly gruff exterior, but a friendly disposition once he gets to know you, who likes to sing. This PC has a long friendship with another of the PC'S, and that PC would like to continue this.
The second half of the minotaur PC Gestalt class is up to whoever takes him over, as is starting equipment, and mythic path.
This game is set in the Forgotten Realms (though it uses Pathfinder Rules).
This is a Gestalt Game, using the Mythic Tier Rules System as well.
The Game can be found here --->
Reclaiming the Weave
The RTJ, Rules & Regulations Thread will explain what I ask for in an RTJ from Potential Players.
--- Game Synopsis ---
It’s been millennia since the Folly of Karsus. Mystryl, the Goddess of Magic; is dead, her immortal soul never having been restored to power in the wake of the Folly of Karsus. The Weave remains broken, and Weave Magic as a whole has all but disappeared over the millennia.
Shar, having created the Shadow Weave, holds sway over what little Magic remains. The Gods have all but abandoned Faerun, their divine power useless, the pleas of their faithful go unheard. The world has become a darker place, overrun by undead, madmen, fanatics, insane cults, worshipers of the Dark Goddess, and the prolific use of the Shadow Weave.
Magic, for the most part (especially Weave Magic), is shunned, looked down upon, or outright banned in places where Shar's cults hold no sway (sometimes even in places they do, giving Her worshipers even greater power over others).
Over the last decade or two, Magic, true Magic, (not the corrupted Magic Shar possesses) has begun to leach its way back into the world. People have begun to whisper of Shar’s hold over Faerun slipping, of the Gods’ return to the Realms, even of the return of Mystra’s Essence, a mortal born with Mystra’s soul, to restore the Weave and reclaim Mystra’s rightful Power.
What will YOU do? Restore the Realms? Or spread Shar's might across the land like a plague?
What this means for PCs
Wild and Dead Magic areas abound. Magic as a whole is more chaotic and unpredictable. Any character capable of casting spells will have the occasional “odd-thing” happen to them (including NPCs and villains).
This, is common knowledge. Intelligent folk know this, as does your character.
- As I said in the game synopsis, when Karsus tried to take the Weave from Mystra, and failed, Mystra cut the Weave (essentially killing herself in the process).
- Shar used the vacuum of power to Subsume most of Faerun, (essentially a "spanish inquisition" geared towards destroying any who were not allied with Her). She did this by destroying temples, and worshipers of any deity who would not ally themselves with Her. (If you do not know, a deities power in faerun is directly related to the number of worshipers they have = lots of worshipers = lots or power - no woshipers = no power.)
- Because She went after the worshipers, not the actual gods themselves, She was able to not only drop the influence and power of any other gods, but increase Hers as well.
- Because the Shadow Weave is a part of Shar, not Mystra (therefore Unaffected by the lack of Mystra's presence) the Shadow Weave has become prevalent, replacing the Weave in its everyday use.
- Anyone using Weave magic, is hunted, and either converted to use the Shadow Weave, or killed. No Exceptions (making Weave magic dangerous to use in the presence of anyone you do not know).
A few things about the current game. I will give you some Out-of-Game information to better help make your character concepts, and answer the RTJ questions.
NONE OF THE FOLLOWING CAN BE USED IN-GAME UNTIL YOU ARE TOLD OF IT IN-GAME BY THE PC'S (both my players and I take meta-gaming as a very serious offense).
Present Day (over 1,000 years later)
- The party found a part of Karsus' Journal fragment along with information indicating that the Karsus' Avatar Journal was NOT destroyed (and perhaps the other foci as well, they do not know for certain). The party took it upon themselves to set about to find the rest of these fragments.
- They do not know how many journal fragments there are, or what exactly the foci are (or where, if they still exist).
- They were deposited a few hours outside of Shadowdale by a Portal, cast by a friendly NPC.
- The journal fragment they DO have, indicated that the last known place another of these fragments were, was in Shadowdale, which has been taken over by a vast Zhent Army.
- They know that (for some as of yet discovered reason) there is some sort of, "Dead Magic Zone" hovering over the area (it reduces caster level of certain schools of magic).
