At Lotus High School, there are many legends that walk the halls. Legends of students suddenly becoming terribly ill. They become weak and pale, barely getting any nutrients no matter how much they eat, soon being unable to get out of bed, and eventually dying. Stories that told of students seeing strange things in mirrors, terrifying to the point where they are driven mad and commit suicide, or leave the school and never return. Tales of students who hear singing from far away. Singing that hypnotizes them and calls them away, sometimes to their death. However, no one knows where these stories come from, or if they ever happened. No one except for a small number of people.

Those a part of the Aaina Protection Organization (APO) know that mirrors are much more than they appear. Behind it is a world both alike and completely different from what we know, called Aaina. Little creatures, called sprites, explore this world. They bring good fortune or bad fortune, depending on the type, and are necessary for creating the world we see today.

However, there are other creatures in this world, what APO have dubbed Vebacre, that feed off humans. Most are too weak to harm anyone who is not unable to fight them, making them the cause of diseases and some mental disabilities, however, in Lotus High School, there is an energy hidden deep underground that gives them the power to take hold of their hosts and slowly destroy them.

APO is a group of students who were chosen to enter Aaina through the mirror with no reflection and keep the Vebacre from harming other students. They are selected by the teacher and leader of APO, Mr. Clearis, based on their potential to help APO. Normally it is either because of their strength or intelligence, whether or not it shows through their grades, and is almost always by the suggestion of a member who sees their potential as a member. Beforehand, they will be introduced to the group, being seen as a type of club (fighting or strategy, depending on their skills), and if they are deemed ready, they will be told the truth.
