An excerpt from the Journal of Tariel...

Well folks... it's the end of days... or perhaps the beginning.  It's all dependent upon an outlook of personal observation.  There's very few of us that were left behind... and quite a good number of them still around.  Now, I'm a good soldier who follows orders and all, but it's kind of ridiculous out there.  Overwhelming, perhaps, would be a better use of phrase as it were.  Of course, I'm getting ahead of myself here.

Everybody that's left remembers "The Purge".  One day we're all wandering about, doing our thing... and then there was the world-wide flash.  Chaos reined for quite some time after nigh what seems the entire population of Earth were vaporized.  Maybe that's a bit too far... it was just the bodies that disappeared after all.  Most believe The Purge is the beginning of Armageddon... the rapture.  Of course, there are a lot of naysayers... those that say there is nothing divine.  Kind of supports the whole rapture thing doesn't it?

Regardless... it's what it is.  There's an entire planet that is seriously devoid of population now.  Basically, it's all mass confusion at the moment.  There are a great deal of remaining people who are making a go of re-establishing what was... and... of course... there are a great deal of people that are taking advantage of circumstances.  Wonder who will prevail?
