Bump.
Also, as an answer to the previous post, that I've only just spotted, I can confirm that playing MTG on RPOL is a different experience to playing face 2 face with real cards, but, if I say so myself, in some ways a more enjoyable one.
The games work roughly as follows:
- For a 2 player game, one of the players rolls a D2 on the dice roller (aka flips a coin) to see who goes first. (Multiplayer games each player rolls a D100, playing in high->low order of rolls).
- The first player then draws their opening hand (either physically if they are playing with a real deck, or a virtual one - usually created and maintained using a spreadsheet on their computer) - and writes their first post.
If they are using a virtual deck and managing it with Excel, then they have the option of downloading the spreadsheet I've developed, making deck development and management during a game a breeze, as well as helping set up the formatting for the initial post.
- The next player(s) does the same, with their initial post.
- When doing the second post, the player will "quote" their first post, remove the <quote></quote> tags and update the post with the results of their new draw and any cards they might have played etc.
The advantages for using a virtual deck are obvious - in that a deck isn't limited by just the cards you have in your own personal collection.
An example of an initial post (as generated from my spreadsheet) can be seen below.
