Character Sheet in use warning

I looked back three pages and didn't see if this was already discussed, so here I go.

Last night I was working on a character sheet and apparently the player logged on to do the same thing. They completed their edit before me, so when I saved, it seems that all their work was lost.

There is already a warning at the end of post stating someone else has posted, would it be possible to post a warning when someone tries to edit their sheet saying 'someone else is editing this sheet right now'?

I know it's probably not a very frequent problem, but when it happens it can be very stressful depending on the effort put in.

Thanks for your consideration.

Re: Character Sheet in use warning

More realistically, the warning message should probably say "Someone has edited this since you started editing, are you sure you want to save? If you do, you will overwrite their changes."

Re: Character Sheet in use warning

It might be more realistic, but it is significantly less useful as you lose your own changes if you opted out.

Re: Character Sheet in use warning

Just cut and paste yours to a text file on your computer.  Then opt out and open it up again.  Compare what they changed with what you changed and edit appropriately.

Re: Character Sheet in use warning

You could just lock the sheet for GM editing only before you start editing it.

Re: Character Sheet in use warning

That's a nice easy fix, if the GM is going first, but it doesn't help if the player is editing it when the GM shows up.

What happens if a player is mid-edit and you lock it? Can they complete their already started action?
