System addition request: D&D 5e

Hi, can you please add Dungeons & Dragons 5e to the Game Systems list? The Basic PDF is already out which means the game is playable.

Oh and there used to be a dedicated thread for requesting additions to the Game System List, but I cannot seem to find it. Is it deleted?

Regards

Nope, the thread is still exactly where it use to be, over in General RPoLlink to a message in another game

Regarding D&D 5e: has it actually been released yet, or is it still a playtest?

Re: System addition request: D&D 5e

The starter set with the basic rules in final form (yeah, yeah, I know about errata) for character builds through 5th level has been released.  The Player's Handbook with everything else (post-level 5) is scheduled for release mid-August.

Re: System addition request: D&D 5e

H'mmm, tricky one ...

Starter Set was released July 15 2014, and a free Basic Rules PDF was made available for download on the same date.  The Player's Handbook is due for release on August 19 2014.

BUT I'm not sure if they're calling it D&D 5E or D&D Next or what.  I can't see anything about edition numbers on the WoC website or Amazon/Bookworld, though Barnes & Noble are referring to it as 5th edition (but is that based on earlier speculation).

I did find the following via a Google search which confirms my confusion:  http://boingboing.net/2014/07/...ok-at-the-new-d.html

At various times, this rebooted D&D has been called "D&D Next," "5th Edition D&D" and "5.0." Wizards of the Coast, D&D’s publisher, is now simply calling the game "Dungeons & Dragons."

Suppose we've got to call it something and 5E (or 5e) works for me.  :>

In reply to bigbadron (msg # 2):

Ah thank you, I did search General but missed it somehow.

Yes the Basic PDF is available for free download from the WOTC website and contains 5e rules for 4 races and 4 classes from level 1-20.

The PHB will be released on 8th August at select stores, and 19th August everywhere else. It will contain the rest of the classes/races as well as rules for Feats and more spells. (aka advanced rules I suppose)

The free Basic PDF will also be updated regularly with every new rules release, such as the PHB, the MM, and the DMG.

And yeah, 5e is fine for me. That's what everyone calls it anyway (I did prefer D&D Next though)

Edit: The main reason I requested this addition is there will soon be a glut of 5e games starting up and it would be better if they used the 5e tag so they are easier to search and find. Some games could already have started up here using the Basic PDF rules.

Re: System addition request: D&D 5e

Okay, added Dungeons & Dragons 5e (to fit in with the style of all the other D&D games in the list).

Anybody who disagrees with the name, and thinks it would be better called something else, should arrange a duel with Andhaira to settle the matter.  Thanks.  :)

Re: System addition request: D&D 5e

I think the problem with D&D Next is that they realized if they did that, sixth edition would have to be called "D&D After That"... and then it was actually downhill from there.

Poor Generation X. The next generation comes along and gets a cool tag like The Millenials.
